For its 6th edition in Paris, the famous indie music festival unanimously recognized for the quality of its programming always relies on a mixture of notoriety and requirement. In the Grande Halle de la Villette, for three days, we will be treated to indie greats like Chet Faker, Suuns, Moderat, Explosions in the Sky, MIA, the super group Minor Victories… All in a variable register and popularity. Let's see some of these ads, with the bonus of a playlist.

Chet Faker
An Australian crooner with a soulful voice and jazz-soaked influences, who had distinguished himself with his cover, alone on the piano, of an old hip hop hit from the 90s signed Blackstreet ("No Diggity") and his single "Gold".Her romantic hipster look contrasts with the sexy urban R'nB imagery of her music. It is reminiscent of James Blake's singing, and when you mix it all up, it gives a powerful rough and delicate mix at the same time, never devoid of sensuality. He will therefore have the logical role of headliner for this 1st day, the artist will federate mainstream lovers as well as those curious about good soul sounds.
Mount Kimbie
It is a London duo that has become one of the spearheads of the "post-dubstep". In other words, for those allergic to labels, an atmosphere half clubbing, half trip-hop, with digital arrangements and samples with complex ramifications. Just enough to sway, not without feeling a small wave to the latent soul, in the melodies with distant echoes and sighing harmonies. The ideal vanishing point to let off steam and recharge your batteries at the same time.
And also: DJ Shadow, Loating Points (Live), Suuns, Parquet Courts, Avelino, Aldous RH

Moderat
The German trio from the techno formations Apparat and Modeselektor recently released its 3rd album, the soberly entitled "III", where its music continues this path started during its previous opus, giving free rein to the appetite for singing, and a greater largesse in the register. From the ambient and often epic compositions of the beginnings, we move on to more down-to-earth songs, the famous paw of the group remaining faithful to the position. Their stage performances, finely conceived, like that of the Olympia recently, are often impressive. You can read the interview we did during their visit to the Bikini, or listen to one of their latest songs in the playlist at the bottom of the page to get a better idea.
Explosions in the sky
Change of register, since this time we have the right to a Texas formation of post-rock, which is in aerial instrumentals, and very imaged. Magical counterpart of the group Godpseed You! Black Emperor, Explosions in the Sky is a more sober ensemble, which without including the majestic character of the Quebec formation, will suddenly relieve the heads of music lovers as effectively as an aspirin.
And also: Bat for Lashes, Todd Terje & The Olsens, Brandt Brauer Frick, Bonzai, Porches, C Duncan.

Mr.I.A.
She made an impression with her hit "Paper Planes", which samples an instrumental by the Clash.English troublemaker of electro-hiphop, the singer of Sri Lankan origin matches her songs with orientalizing influences, and at the time of Brexit and the confinement of Europe, it feels damn good.
Minor Victories
The cream of the post-rock and shoegazing veterans (Editors, Mogwai and Slowdive) in one band, you dreamed it, Minor Victoires did it. Well: many supergroups are only interested in the fame of their members, while here they propose to transcend their respective origins of saturated rock and heavy pedals with effects in all directions, to achieve a greater lightness, and a practice of a purer rock, more pop. A youthful and saving decomplexion for these musicians who sometimes reach 50 years old.
And also Tale of Us, Daphni, Warpaint, Motor City, Drum Ensemble, Acid Arab (live), Shame, ABRA, Whitney, Joey Purp
