Every month, JustFocus tells you about the artists who have just started and whose spell we have fallen in love with. Here are the JustFocus musical discoveries of March 2018!

This year, we are getting a makeover and we have decided to create new sections of which this monthly article is a part. It will allow us to make you discover very young artists, fresh, who just have a single or an EP to their credit or are about to release an album. We have not spoken to you yet and their news may still be discreet … But we're dying to share them with you!

William presents: The Empress

The very first album of The Empress, Matahari, takes us on a mysterious adventure. As was the spy. We don't even know what can await us on the next track as the band oscillates between pop or disco sounds , faster, slower… And that's how the band has operated since its debut in 2012.

Through their various EPs, the band sounds very avant-garde. And it is these sounds that have made the band, a group apart. The Empress will be in concert at the Casino de Paris on April 3rd and 4th (but already sold out!) and on tour throughout the France.

Emma presents: Clairo

We already told you about it, Clairo is the dream pop discovery of the month. Straight from the East Coast of the United States, the young woman is already no longer unknown on the internet. Nearly 280,000 followers on Youtube, and only two weeks after the release of his first clip, it totals 920,000 views.

Now more than a cover channel, Clairo has the ambition to release its own songs and develop its own identity. So if some projects have been released more recently, we decided to share with you the song that made him known, and this 7 months ago. DIY video, full of sweetness and humor, we understand what cracked the 12 million people who watched the clip.

Not yet scheduled in Europe, it will nevertheless be on the bill at Lollapalooza in Chicago and MO POP in Detroit this summer. Clairo no longer composes in his room, but now in the studio. And if it is still recent, we can assure you that we will be present at the release of his first opus. Love at first sight!

Canek presents: Kailee Morgue

Kailee Morgue is a perfect mix: Billie Eilish's airy voice, melanie Martinez's melancholic lyrics and a purely pop production. Medusa is the name of her debut EP where she explores emotional demons on Ghost of Mine and love in a nostalgic universe on Discovery.

However; it is the song Medusa which is a real musical love at first sight. It is an original piece that begins with a synth arpeggio, very close to the harp, which makes us travel into the fantastic world of the myth of the Medusa, which takes as victim Kailee Morgue, because of her enormous physical and mental suffering.

Even if the rest of the songs in her EP are not up to Medusa, this track shows us the immeasurable talent of an emerging singer who wants to have a place in the music industry and who is definitely on the right path.

Noucky presents: Brainbow

Discovered this month when we were told of the imminent release of their first opus, Brainbow was quite an emotional jolt and an inner turmoil. A band from Lyon that officiates in French and English, their music recalls so many things and takes us very far.

Tellurisme , from their first eponymous album, between psyche and progressive rock made us feel like a good slap. A desire to dive fully into their universe and let yourself be carried away. When we go back a little we then discover titles of a completely different vein, from an EP catching very electro pop, maybe a little too much in the current movement. However, we welcome the unlikely mash-up of Gainsbourg's voices against the background of the credits of K-2000 that we loved (Initail BBW). Yet we feel that it is something else that awaits us with Tellurism… More experimental, almost a concept album. There is an almost dramatic tension in this song that makes us think that this album will be a superb flight and presages a beautiful listening experience.

When we read that he ventures "on the paths influenced by references of yesterday (Supertramp, Pink Floyd) and today (Radiohead, Tame Impala)" we can only stumble imagining what their next titles will look like… And we also really want to see what it can give live! It will be necessary to wait until April 6 to have confirmation and revelation.

Léa presents: Arcane Roots

Arcane Roots, discovered during a concert in Lyon in March. The English make alternative rock sometimes very calm or sometimes very angry, but always successful. The level of live musicians is impressive, it's borderline better than in studio version! Their music could be a mix of Bon Iver and metal, the songs take to the guts. They will be at the Download in Paris next June and are already preparing the release of a new album.

Mathilde presents: Ryon

Curiosity is not always just an ugly flaw! And it is sometimes while tracking down the novelties that we come across some pretty creations. This is indeed the case with Ryon. Formed in 2014, this French band offers modern reggae melodies, sprinkled with a touch of rock, with often committed lyrics.

2 years after their first album Rêver, they are back with a new opus called Zéphyr, released on March 16, 2018. They highlight two first titles, Zephyr, then Gaia, the latter relating nature to preserve and the world around us. Two auditory pleasures completed by the new single Combien, their new nugget. A reggae rhythm embellishes with a few brass notes, in which beautiful committed lyrics are chanted. A perfectly realized and accomplished melody, to listen to urgently! We wish good luck to these 5 talented musicians, who will travel the roads of France through Toulouse, Bordeaux or Mont-de-Marsan very soon.
