"Yeah, I did all this to leave the tieks but there is only in my tieks that I feel good / And the daronne is proud, the daron too, for me, that's success". These are the words of Soso Maness in Chiaroscuro. This first track of his new album 'Avec le temps' released on June 4th sets the tone for the project. Composed of 17 tracks there is a certain honesty in the lyrics, as was the case with the previous album Mistral released in 2020. In this new opus we find the interlude Ô Baumettes which partly tells the passage of the artist in this prison. In this sound he says in part: "I hear people screaming and others partying / I remember the supervisor and his damn bowl / Who told me: 'Soso Maness, welcome to the Baumettes'." Rap is like a kind of outlet in which he does not hesitate to take risks. In the title ô Baumettes we hear Soso Maness accompanied by a guitar, far from the usual prods. And this is not the first time the rapper likes to surprise. In the Zumba Cafew sound, which was expected to be a just gushing sound, we hear it with lyrics far from being light. Risk taking and a certain ease for Soso Maness who has been rapping since he was 11 years old. At that age he founded the group Les sales mômes with a friend. Subsequently he recorded his first title at the age of 12 entitled La Relève, featuring Intouchable. Then during his adolescence he stopped music. But this pause is only temporary. A few years later the artist returned to rap until releasing his first album Rescapé in 2019. An opus retracing the difficult years he lived and explaining that he is a survivor of the street. Having become a key figure in Marseille rap, he participated in 2020 in the compilation 13 Organised, produced by Jul. Moreover, in his new project Avec le temps, he does not hesitate to thank those who have followed him so far through the Outro. He says, "Thank you to my wife and family, and to you who are listening."
