Solidays 2016: Saturday, a busy and rhythmic day!

This year, the programming of Solidays was heavy! It was also an opportunity to discover surprising new artists.

Big favorite and discovery for us of this edition: Wanton Bishops, blues rock straight from Lebanon. Nader Mansour seduced us with his rocky voice that smells of old-fashioned American bar with whiskey-soaked flooring. A rough music that reminds us of the Black Keys and titles sometimes fast and danceable, sometimes flowing and oozing … In the heat of this Saturday, Nader's song sounds like a liberation. Despite the absence of Eddy Ghossein, the other founding member of the group stuck in London, the Wanton Bishops defend themselves brilliantly. The curious public becomes more and more numerous and lets itself be carried away by this whining and angry music at the same time. It is conquered that we leave them with a strong desire to meet them. After a few exchanges on Twitter, they offer us an interview by email.

After a very fun press conference with The Shoes, we find Bigflo and Oli on the Paris stage. The two young people have a great time, playing the card of staging and interactivity with the public. Their success is immediate. We were afraid that success would be taken to their heads, but it is with humor that they manage to take distance, clashing in passing their Marseille colleagues and low-level rappers. We can clearly feel the influence of IAM in their compositions and their way of saying the texts. Hats off and respect for these kids who claim their origins and do not blush from their gold record that he spontaneously shares with the public.

Meanwhile, Broken Back is a full hit under the Domino tent. The audience dances and swings to the rhythm of its chords and the young Breton wanders from one end of the stage to the other.

As soon as his concert ended, Oxmo Puccino 's concert began under the Dome. An elegant show full of common sense, as usual, the rapper of love excites us with slam of undeniable finesse. Beauty of words and meaning, his voice becomes a credo and festival-goers take up his words with fervor. Moreover, the singer has just allowed us to watch an exceptional acoustic session where he interprets on the second floor of the Eiffel Tower, the titles Pam Pa Nam, from the album Roi sans carrosse and Les Potos, from the album La Voix Lactée released last November.

Meanwhile, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats groove the César Circus with a blues, soul sound and we think back to the performance of St Paul & The Broken Bones on the same stage last year (they were also in concert at the Flow on Tuesday, June 28).

It was 8pm when Mat Bastard of Skip the Use returned to the stage, after 10 years of absence, with his former band Carving. The Solidays were not prepared for such an explosion! It was the whole festival that trembled under the crazy chords of the group that we heard from the Bagatelle. It's rock, it's nasty and it was a great romp!

We continue on a completely different style: the timeless Keziah Jones goes on stage. His voice and guitar give us chills. Posed or standing, the whole audience grooves at the beginning of the evening. What to start warming up for the night that promises to be cool.

No time to breathe, we run to join Selah Sue on the Paris stage. The pretty Belgian is more than happy to return to the Solidays. It is with an incredible peach and a radiant smile that she sings us the most evocative titles of these two albums. There's no escaping Raggamuffin or Reason.

Guillaume and Benjamin from The Shoes have decided to "fuck the mess". They contaminate the Dome with their visual viruses stuffed with web culture. Eyes riveted on the screens, as if hypnotized, the public is no less excited. Their setlist is effective and contagious. A big surprise awaits us: Chicken Zilla , who had taken control of their facebook page the day before, arrives on stage for a frenetic dance.

The highlight of this second evening: after the tribute to the volunteers, it is the Deluxe band that launches the night programming. A great choice to stay awake.

The mustachioed people faced an overexcited audience that followed them in all their delusions. The solidays sat in front of the stage at their request before leaping with the same burst of madness. An incredible moment that the group is not ready to forget!

The electro evening took us back a few years: Mr Oizo was back and we missed his beat. It didn't take him long to convince the youngest under the Dome.

From the Domino scene, a little too close, we get the echoes of Feder who starts his set in offset and seems to send heavy infra bass.

A little refreshment and we find Pfel and Greem : the highly anticipated duo blew us away with a sublime combo of their respective talents. When you know their respective origins and their compositions it is obvious that this concert is worth seeing. And we were not disappointed… It's very, very heavy! The evening ends for us on these Beat Torrent mixes sprinkled with the influence of Hocus Pocus. We feel that the two DJs are having fun and it's entirely shared.

An eclectic and tasty second day. We are just a little disappointed not to have been able to meet more artists and not to be able to bring you more interviews this year.
As every year, we were also very moved by the Mass of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence: a moment of communion and indispensable love!
