Released since April 28th, Gunwood's Traveling Soul was a project we've been waiting for since last year and even more since we found them at the Hermitage Studio at the beginning of the year. Well, we were not disappointed by this initiatory road trip.
The album begins with the title that gives its name to this opus: Traveling Soul. An air of roadtrip with a little dust in the nostrils. Falsely quiet, the song leaves very quickly at the pace of a steam locomotive and takes us on a blues rock journey. We already know that we will love it. The voice of Gunnar and the sound of the harmonica, all on this rhythm taking: we already want to tap our feet.
A more rock hook on Daydreams, the melody is a little darker; The title is between despair and anger like a desire to throw away his daily life, to move forward… to change your life. An invitation to pursue the path of his dreams.
First ballad of the album, Tales is a very poetic text; The sound of the banjo in the background adds a little more authenticity to this beautiful song.
Swimming has a little side Black Hole Sun quite pleasant and we let ourselves be swayed by this almost slow that rises in power and finally moves us inside.
Rainchild is THE unifying track of the album. The songs at the end announce a beautiful moment of communion in concert… to be repeated in chorus.

Very rock blues assumed and powerful, I want to Betray Myself sends. He takes to the guts and appeals to something more raw, without concession.
Lighter, we continue on Sweet Holy Road. Even if the title is super catchy, the instrumentation gives wings and makes you want to fly behind the wheel of a Cadillac on an arid road.
Dark, almost military, Hey Little Brother is tougher, a little dry, but has Celtic accents. One can't help but think of U2's Bloody Sunday. There is Ireland in this music.
More was our favorite last year. This beautiful melody touched us the first time during the Chorus festival and it always makes its little effect.
If you are looking for a piece to wake up and shake you, then without hesitation, it is Rescue that you must put in your ears first thing in the morning; It catches what you need, it's rock at will and it makes you want to dance … or walk proudly with your head held high. A real superhero song!
Old Man Song, a ballad full of philosophy, weariness, looking back and reflecting on the meaning of life on a slightly disillusioned tune that works well.
We finish with a guitar vocal song, which gives its place to the beautiful vocal harmony of the 3 boys of Gunwood: Afraid Of tthe Dark. We are at the end of the journey and we imagine this tune sung in unison around a drink between companions. Again, the lyrics are very beautiful and touching. We realize that the end of the album is actually a beautiful opening, a beautiful call to hope!
The multiple influences of Gunwood make their first album a real gem of Rock Blues. This is the album that you will enjoy listening to everywhere: in the car, in transport, with friends. But we especially recommend that you come and discover it live.
If you missed the session at the beginning of the year, the group will be on June 15 at the Bellevilloise as part of the Folk You festival. We will also have the pleasure of finding Sparky In The Clouds who had provided their first part. We'll tell you more about it soon!
