He is one of those artists who by their singular life path move us. Inner Tongue is one of them. With the release of his first album Favours, the singer from Vienna shares with us how his voice came back to life, thanks to the development of an album mainly focused on melody.

Life trials that have built a musical identity

Is there anything worse for a singer than not being able to use his voice? This is indeed what Inner Tongue has known for whom the year 2013 was a radical change in its existence. At the time, doctors diagnosed him with a very rare problem that affected his vocal cords. According to the medical profession, only very few doctors in the world are able to treat him. With the release of this album, we know that this story ends well, but it has not always been so simple.

For many months, the Austrian singer absolutely must not use his voice in order to fully recover. Not singing for this born singer becomes such a frustration that he decides to spend more time developing compositions that are self-sufficient. Keeping of course in mind that these musics could one day be used with his voice.

It still took 5 years between the surgery and the release of this album, for Inner Tongue to make us enjoy his talent. And the only thing we can say is that the wait was worth it.

An excellent musical composition through the album Favours

In 10 tracks sown between 2 of the most brilliant instrumental tracks , Inner Tongue offers us a very airy album that places the voice at the center of high quality compositions. We think of Tame Impala or even James Blake but what emerges is a real appetite to feel melancholy.

Through titles like Dig Deeper and Next Life, Inner Tongue takes us deep into his soul and exposes his feelings with the most authentic sincerity. It is impossible to remain insensitive to the virtuosity of certain titles such as New York, a real melodious flight that takes even more magnitude with the use of brass brought with such heat that one would almost shout genius.

The album Favours also borrows a sound from the alternative pop music of the 1990s, which places it in a timelessness that is all the more pleasant, as this opus also sounds very modern.

We give Favours a score of 9/10

Next Life, last single from the album Favours

Inner Tongue is a real revelation thanks to this album. Beyond the instrumental, the lyrics that marry the music are splendid as on Fallen Empire, where the artist exposes the reasons why everyone can feel discomfort or the reasons for a depression preventing happiness.

Rightly brought, Inner Tongue becomes almost philosophical by telling us that the domino effect can be fatal and that when all the essential is missing, nothing goes. From now on, Inner Tongue can rest assured, everything seems to be going well and Favours is the proof.
