On Saturday night, the Trianon offered a double ration of soul to fans of the genre with Leon Bridges and Amber Mark.

Let's face it, it's rare to be excited for the opening parts of concerts, especially in small venues. However, a few exceptions from time to time show that we are wrong. On this Saturday evening, the Trianon was one of them with the young American Amber Mark, taken across the European continent by her compatriot Leon Bridges.

Since the release of the first EP 3:33 AM, we fell in love with Amber Mark and told you about the harmonious and mesmerizing "S P A C E". And, as soon as she arrives early on the stage of the Trianon (7:15 pm, a Saturday night!), it is precisely this piece that the singer chooses to perform. With her mix of soul and r'n'b, the singer manages to seduce the entire room, by her unique grace but also by her songs such as " Love Me Right " from her EP Conexão, the most recent " Put You On" or a cover of Sade. In just forty minutes, Amber Mark proved that she had everything of a true diva deserving of her own Trianon.

Difficult to pass after this excellent introduction. However, the spectators are there for Leon Bridges and they show it. As soon as the singer arrives, a general excitement invades the room. For more than 1h30, the singer will oscillate almost evenly between titles of his first attempt Coming Home dating from 2015 and Good Thing, released last May. In a simple scenography, he then surrounds himself with two choristers and many musicians, rather withdrawn. Everything rests on the shoulders of the 29-year-old.

Between funk and soul, the songs do not manage to reach the energy and emotion captured in the studio, making the set very quickly monotonous and long. Even the excellent " Coming Home" is played too rhythmically, the opposite of the original. However, we will remember a very good double finale " Smooth Sailin' " / "Flowers", dancing and intoxicating, reviving the crowd. After leaving the stage for a few moments, the Texas singer returns alone with his guitar and backup singer for an acoustic interpretation of the hit "River", surely making it the best moment of the concert. "Take me to your river, I wanna go" is chanted from all sides. Moving.

Let's face it, it's rare to be excited for the opening parts of concerts, especially in small venues. However, there are times when the first part turns out to be even better than the main concert. This evening was one of the proofs.
