For its 9th edition, the MaMA Festival once again delighted us with an eclectic and quality program.
Small tour of the track in the district of Pigalle for this first evening of festivities. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
The Order of the Periph
For this first concert of the evening, we find the 4 young rappers that are Assy, Youv Dee, Ars'n and Swan, a group of friends from the Paris region from the open mic scene: a dynamic performance that awakens! The Black Ball vibrated. Note that they have just won the Prix des Inouïs du Printemps de Bourges 2018.
Born Idiot
Their self-produced debut album AfterSchool was released this year, and their catchy and soaring pop plunges us into the nostalgia of adolescence and its first emotions. Led by Rennes singer Lucas Benmahammed, the group offers us a moment of fullness on the intimate and chic stage of the Carmen. The throbbing guitars and drum accelerations got the better of us in the middle of moldings, gilding, frescoes and colonades.
Warhola
All in grace, the trio Warhola takes us on an atmospheric electro pop carried by the haunting voice of singer Oliver Symons. Between aerial flights and electro effervescence, this sound that comes to us from Belgium invites us to abandon ourselves in a kind of reverie. We are looking forward to the release of their first album, announced for early 2019. To follow!
Walter Dean
Walter Dean is the meeting of composer Jean-Baptiste Cognet, visual artist Guillaume Marmin, and violinist Carla Pallone. The trio took their place on the main stage of La Machine du Moulin Rouge to amaze the audience who came to discover it. To the sound of electronic music tinged with some other stylistic influences, it is above all an exceptional ballet of lights that was played before our children's eyes. This original formation has managed to suspend time and offer a show full of elegance.
Moullinex
Moullinex on stage is all the crazy and festive energy of Funk and Disco mixed with the magic of electro. We take full view with the hallucinating choreographies of an eccentric singer, half superhero, half preacher. Wrapped in his beautiful golden and glittery cape, he took us hostage: it is indeed time for mass. We also take full ears and we contort under the uncontrolled influence of the pieces. Suddenly pink and glittery confetti is thrown at our faces. We dance. We love. We shine. Life becomes a party made in Portugal: this is the whole project of producer, DJ and multi-instrumentalist Luis Clara Gomes. And we love it.
Concrete Knives
It is with boundless energy that Concrete Knives took possession of the small stage of La Boule Noire. After a few years of absence, the band returns with a new album, "Our Hearts" and presented to the public its barred pop, carried by its charismatic singer. A nice moment of sharing.
MNNQNS
Say "Mannequins" for this band initially formed in 2013 by Adrian, a young 24-year-old from Rouen, strongly influenced by New York underground rock and English punk of the 80's. Mad guitars, hair whipping the air and bodies stretched on their instruments, effervescence drums but especially deliciously "dirty" and perfectly worked titles, perfectly controlled effects, with this little thing in addition, what I do not know what that revives the spirit. Winners of the Prix Ricard Live Music 2018, their latest EP Advertisement is a little wonder to listen to on repeat.
Naya
Fresh, energetic and gentle, Naya, from the top of her 18 years walks us through her poetic and childish universe. She has largely seduced the bus Palladium audience with her catchy pop tracks such as Girl on the Moon, Cat Song or Something About You and which are from her first album Ruby released last month. All in simplicity and tenderness, this singer-songwriter, former finalist of "The Voice Kids" in 2014, offers us a nice moment on stage.
AMMAR 808
Direction La Machine du Moulin Rouge where we observe 3 relaxed guys who prepare with the help of their staff. The music begins and they take us quickly, very far and very high between heaven and earth in an oriental and festive musical trance, haloed with heavy and deep beats. Ammar 808 carries high the colors of Tunisia through this fusion of traditional music and powerful electro. The audience was crazy and happy, we a-do-ré.
Arat Kilo / Mamani Keïta / Mike Ladd
The Parisian ethio-jazz group Arat Kilo, the American slammer Mike Ladd and the Malian singer Mamani Keïta ignited the Bus Palladium by making us relive the "Swinging' Addis", golden age of music in the Ethiopian capital in the 60s and 70s. A beautifully festive and joyful atmosphere that can be found in their album Visions of Selam. We couldn't have asked for better training. A musical feast.
Museless
The Spanish artist, Laura Llopart of her real name, offered the audience of La Machine du Moulin Rouge a beautiful electronic moment. Not content to play her creations, the young producer who traces her little way, from festival to festival, offers a real stage performance by crossing music and dance, since she enriches her captivating melodies with the graceful movements of a dancer, all sublimated by a beautiful work of light.
We hope that you were present and that you did not miss anything of this beautiful program!
