This Tuesday, September 18, the American singer King Princess appeared at the Badaboum for the first time in France in front of hundreds of fans.
With Make My Bed, the singer's first EP including the hits Talia and 1950, which became famous following a tweet of the song's lyrics by Harry Styles and her very queer image, King Princess gradually became a force in indie-pop music and an important figure in the LGBTQ community. What she was able to demonstrate at Badaboum.
A concert full of energy
One thing is clear: King Princess has rock 'n' roll in his veins. On the one hand, by her attitude: beer in hand, she chains the pieces by drinking and smoking a cigarette. At the same time, his songs tend to reach a more rock atmosphere than in the EP, for even more energy than in the studio.
However, she does not leave out the nostalgic moments. King Princess decided to calmly start the concert sitting on a piano with the intro Make My Bed. Similarly, she unveiled to her audience unreleased tracks such as the fragile Best Friend , to finish with the romantic 1950: "I hate it when dudes try to chase me, But I love it when you try to save me", she sings at the beginning.
In addition, his commitment to the LGBTQ community is still present. During the concert, she speaks with several women from the audience euphoric in front of the androgynous beauty of the singer. Before performing her latest track, she adds "This one's for the gays", followed by the screams of the crowd.
King Princess is a rare gem in the music industry. Rock'n'roll, queer, pop, indie, rebellious, sexual. These are a few words to describe the singer. King Princess uses several sources of inspiration, including the LGBTQ community of which she is a part, to create something sensitive, a pop that touches the heart, unique and empowering. With only one sublime EP at hand, it's just beginning, and we can't wait to see what's next.
