Almost a month after the release of their expected first eponymous album, Her invested Wednesday the stage of the Olympia. On the program: 1h30 of show and titles already taken up by the whole room.
We no longer present Her, especially in Paris, where the group chains the stages bigger and bigger. In one year, Her went from the Gaité Lyrique to the Olympia via the Bataclan, the Chorus festival at the beginning of the month and especially a concert full of emotion at Rock En Seine last August, just after Simon's death. And it's not over, next year, the group will perform at the Zenith in Paris!
Her, the dancing emotion
Calm and moving entrance as usual, on We Choose, very first title written by Victor Solf and his late best friend and musical partner. Tonight, what strikes from the beginning of the concert is the brand new duo of singers. The two young women add enormous value to the show, with an epic rendering. Just like on the eponymous album Her , the band alternates between old titles (Queens and Swim from Tape #2) and recent nuggets (Icarus, Shuggie). At the arrival of On & On, Victor announces that Romeo Elvis, the prestigious guest of the title could unfortunately not be present tonight: "You know, Romeo Elvis is a very busy person, there he is on vacation!" Promised, he will do everything to ensure that he is there on the next Parisian date: "The Zenith, February 2 for example". But why not at the Solidays, where they both play on Saturdays? Answer at the end of June…
Alternating between soft tracks and dancing hits, Her satisfies everyone. Wanna Be You and Swim make the most energetic dance. For its part, Union is an opportunity to take out the lighters or start a slow for some. Small surprise: the group launches into a cover of Rocket Man by Elton John. "Be indulgent, we played it very little," says the leader of the group. Much more than indulgent, the Olympia launches into a thunderous applause to close the title.
The long-awaited moment arrives: Five Minutes finishes the first act. A title that we have so much (too much?) Understood that we know it by heart, and we are obviously not the only ones. The audience sings at the top of their lungs, Victor hands him the microphone before ending with a "Simooooon", in the form of a final tribute.
1h30 show and two encores
After only an hour of concert, there is no doubt that an encore is planned. To the applause of the audience, Victor Solf returns to the stage with his two singers only to interpret the unpublished Are You Still Here. With this new title bearing the same name as the documentary series STUDIO+ about the group, Victor speaks directly to Simon and the result is full of emotion. This is followed by Quite Like, the very first title released by the group that disappears again.
Second and last reminder: turquoise and purple lights intertwine to sublimate the already sublime Blossom Roses. The bet is successful: all we want is to see Her again as soon as possible. Coming out of the concert, we can hear " That was great! Even better than at the Bataclan!"
As indicated by a banner hanging from the balconies, unfortunately removed before the start of the concert by security: #WELOVEHER.
Her will be in concert at the Zénith de Paris on February 2, 2019. Places are available here.
