This Saturday, June 2, 2018, the talented Gavin James captivated the Café de la Danse with a fabulous concert!

While his next album Only Ticket Home is expected in September 2018, the incredible 26-year-old Irish artist is currently on tour throughout Europe. Before going back to the cities of Copenhagen, Frankfurt or London, he makes a stop in Paris for our greatest happiness.

A voice that transports you

The Café de la Danse begins by heating up with a beautiful first part : we were able to discover the super group Saarloos who knows how to set the mood and in which we find this acoustic / folk side present at Gavin James. After this very pleasant moment, the concert begins with a powerful intro of the musicians quite surprising compared to the musical style of the singer. Then the long-awaited artist makes his entrance on stage to the cheers of a very enthusiastic crowd. First note and we are already under the spell of this splendid voice. She is like a lullaby, soothing and magical.

However, at the beginning of the concert, Gavin James apologizes and explains that he is sick and therefore no longer has much voice. However, this does not prevent him from singing wonderfully and giving as much energy as possible. While others in his place would have canceled the show, he does his best to satisfy his fans. We then recognize here a true artist who ensures in all circumstances.

THE highlight and cute moment of the concert remains the cover of La vie en rose by Edith Piaf: tenderness and love are present, and it feels good.

Pure talent

Gavin James is simplicity, no artifice, only his voice and acoustic guitar. That's what we like about him, he doesn't need to do too much to take people elsewhere. Little protégé of Ed Sheeran, he is reminiscent of the latter. Singer, musician, author, composer, he has all the talents. He is accompanied for most of his songs by his four musicians just as talented as him.

Gavin is close to them and it shows, as at the end of Boxes with a beautiful duet one-on-one between him and one of his guitarists. During this concert, we hear many tracks from his first album Bitter Pill released in 2016, such as For You and 22, alternating with some unreleased tracks.

Hard to do is also part of the set list. We can see him change guitar very regularly, and even play piano on part of the ballad Always that we can find in his new album. We have the impression that this artist is superhuman: even when he is not in his usual form he gives his all, especially on Put You Back Together when he sings and plays the harmonica at the same time as he plays the guitar.

A fantastic complicity with its audience

Throughout the concert we have the right to a lot of thanks and adorable words from Gavin James, including some in French like "Ça va je m'appelle Gavin" which makes the spectators smile, or many times "You want to sing with me?". This makes it possible to install a superb atmosphere in the room, especially since we are facing an artist who loves to joke.

He is also very natural in the way he speaks. He says everything that comes to mind, does not hesitate to explain what is happening, even things that normally try to be hidden by other artists. We feel comfortable and very close to him, which is not the case with all singers. He has many interactions with his fans, some of whom have come from far and wide to see him, as we discover when he is stopped by an Irish woman from the same region as him.

Coming Home, Faces , the songs are linked in a beautiful harmony, then Tired sounds for the greatest pleasure of all. During Glow, he and his musicians ask the audience to jump, which provokes an energetic reaction from the room. After that, we find Remember Me under beautiful light effects perfectly in harmony with the sound. Gavin James then performs the famous single Hearts on Fire, the first single from his future album.

During the encore, the room is delirious, everyone proclaims the artist, the concert then resumes more beautiful with even more dynamism on the part of all on The Middle. Then follow the titles Two hearts, Book of Love, without forgetting the inevitable hit Nervous, one of the biggest successes of the artist.

Escape and sincerity are therefore at the rendezvous throughout this beautiful musical event lasting one hour and thirty minutes. Gavin James and his band end with Only Ticket Home, the name of the next long-awaited opus. At the final end of the concert, when there is no one left on stage, the whole audience continues to sing in chorus without stopping, and that's beautiful.

You will understand, if you like both softness and intensity, Gavin James is absolutely to listen and go see in concert. You will be entitled to a fantastic unforgettable moment as was the case here at the Café de la Danse. We can't wait to see him again!
