An excellent program last Thursday at the Eurockéennes 2018, obscured by a pouring rain that did not however discourage the public.
It is with a radiant sun that we begin the festival which does not presage the catastrophic weather of the middle of the evening.
Great welcome at the Eurockéennes 2018
As soon as we arrived, we were greeted by the patrol of France who passed over our heads by releasing a tricolor smoke. On the site of Malsaucy, the Marseillaise rises, taken up in chorus by all the festival-goers already very numerous. A moving and patriotic moment that we share with a smile on our faces.
Unfortunately, we have just arrived at the end of the Tank And The Bangas concert… But we can tell you that there were already people on the festival to applaud them.
Goldlink
It is with American rap that we begin the programming of Eurockéennes. The festival is already very full and the atmosphere excellent. To accompany Goldlink's titles, many Dragon Ball visuals and clips are played on the screen in the background. The crowd moves, very receptive under the marquee of the Greenroom. The singer will delight the public by announcing that he would like the France to win the World Cup, to be able to party with the French. And, as if to kick off the festivities, he offers an improbable Smell Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana that unleashes those who came to listen to him. Nice discovery in any case!
We then go to the press area to meet Rakel, Alice and Bella from Dream Wife.
Sampha
On the beach, it's quieter but dancing: Sampha comes to pose her angel voice. Not very communicative but very focused on his music, he gradually brings together a curious audience, unfortunately quickly dispersed by the rain that has just invited itself to the festival. He thanks the brave people who remain to listen to him. Armed with their poncho and K-way, some do not let themselves be defeated and continue to enjoy the concert. Sampha switches from piano to percussion to turn up the rhythm a notch. His music, both tender and groovy, did not have the success deserved… Blame it on the weather!
Texas
It's a real 90 revival that we're witnessing on the big stage. Sharleen Spiteri hit the tubes to start her set before motivating the crowd to clap their hands and shout. The rain, meanwhile, continues to fall. What we thought was only a small downpour grows, but the audience resists to listen to it until the end.
Dream wife
It is in pouring rain that we join the scene of the Loggia to find Dream Wife. Nothing stops them, let alone bad weather. Once again festival-goers are zealous in front of this delirious Girl Power trio. The girls manage to make the audience dance in the mud and send lots of messages of love to encourage them to stay. They will cover the chorus of Somebody, their excellent feminist title. Well done girls!
Orlesan
On the big stage, he marks the spirits with his powerful words. This is his second time that Orelsan comes to the festival and he was eagerly awaited. Despite the rain, the audience stayed to party with the singer and sing at the top of their lungs the titles of his latest album. And speaking of The Rain, the title falls at the right time in the setlist.
For our part, we did not drag on, to our great regret… It is soaked, a little disappointed not to be able to stay anymore, but delighted with this beginning of the festival, that we leave to rest because the next day promises to be intense.
