Sony announced this Thursday, June 11, the new design of the PS5, which will be released at the end of the year. It will be available in two versions, a classic and a Digital Edition. The Japanese giant later announced that a game will be pre-installed on all consoles. The game in question is Astro's PlayRoom.

A game that serves mainly as a demo

Astro's Playroom is a game that will be installed by default on the PlayStation 5. This is a kind of variation of Mario games in 3D. In a very pretty open world, the objective is to progress and collect coins by jumping from platform to platform. The interest of the game is paradoxically not the game itself. Indeed, Astro's Playroom is more of a technical demo than anything else. It focuses on the capabilities of the controller, offering to test the force feedback, vibrations or haptic feedback of the new dualsense. A way to show developers the possibilities offered with this pad. The activities and small games offered in Astro's Playroom will mainly be a way to highlight the new haptic functions of the PS5 controllers. It will therefore be an old-school platform game in which players will be able to experience the adventures of the robot through the vibrations of the controller. The game Astro's Playroom will be delivered with every PS5 sold, like The Playroom on PS4 (still from the same Japan Studio). Astro will become one of Sony's new emblems, especially when it comes to showcasing new technologies. For comparison, it will be a bit like the Wii Sport of the PS5. Finally, PS5 players will be able to download other free-to-play games from PlayStation Store.
