Nozen young Parisian virtuoso releases his new EP on Baile Musik. The opportunity to look back on the career of this young artist.
In brief
Inspired by his many and diverse travels around the world, Arthur began producing music at a very young age. After many years of activities in the collective Octogogne, he embarked on a solo project: NOZEN. He created the renowned Reset Parties in 2013, with the aim of popularizing underground music. Indeed this genre was not very popular with the general public at the time.
Later, he decided to create a duo with his partner Marwan Saab . Nozwan offers us a rare and most appreciated musical alchemy. Indeed the two young prodigies of the Parisian electro scene will also set up their own label. Case to follow for our technophiles…
Thus Nozen offers us an auditory treat with this new EP on Baile Musik. Original and singular, this Secret EP is already in the music libraries of the greatest, including Marco Carola, Joseph Capriati or Stacey Pullen.
In order to better present this young talent, we went to meet him to ask him a few questions.

- Hello Nozen, you who is based in Paris and who performs there quite often, what has changed between your beginnings and today?
A lot has changed in Paris between my first date and today… Previously, the rare " underground" type parties were not well regarded, both by club owners and clubbers themselves. We were in a kind of vicious circle that led us to get tired of typical clubbing formats. This is why a large number of collectives investing in atypical places have emerged in recent years, which has helped the "underground" movement to develop.
- What are your favorite places to play?
I really like to play everywhere, as long as the audience is receptive and there is a good soundsystem !
- What was the trigger for you to find yourself behind turntables?
I have been attracted to music and sound in general since birth. But one day when I was very little I saw on TV a guy who scratched, it completely fascinated me. I told myself that I had to try at all costs!!
- You created Reset parties all over Europe, such as Vienna, Budapest, London and Paris. What do you like most about this evening? What is the long-term goal of these evenings for you?
Reset evenings are a way to introduce the public to our favorites, our musical revelations in order to share them with as many people as possible.
- What are your motivations, influences and inspirations?
What motivates me is when I play in front of a receptive audience with whom there is a connection. I like it when my music pleases! Receiving good feedback on my productions or sets is also very motivating !
- Let's talk about this new EP on Baile Musik. A rather original tune with resonances both techno and deep. Do you have the vocation to mix styles?
Indeed, I really like to mix styles. Depending on my mood I would tend to compose something more or less edgy.
- Is production essential to you? Do you work on machines or only on software? Will we have the chance to discover other of your creations soon?
Production is essential in order to express oneself and externalize what one feels. I draw a lot of inspiration from my travels and experiences. I mainly compose with analog machines but I also use a lot of samples that I find or record myself. I have a lot of finished sounds in stock, and also a lot of projects in progress. I am currently looking for labels to sign them.
- I've heard about a new label that you and Marwan are going to launch….
Indeed, we have been working for several months on this project… Our label HOSTILIA Music will be clearly oriented towards the minimal, and will see the light of day in early 2017. The releases will be in vinyl format and also in digital a few months later.
