Former Fifth Harmony member Normani Kordei has just unveiled to the world his two collaborations Checklist and Slow Down with DJ Calvin Harris.

A promising start

Following the indefinite hiatus of Fifth Harmony, Normani called on Khalid for his first official single entitled Love Lies which already has more than 86 million views on YouTube and reached number 10 on Billboard's Hot 100.

"It's crazy. Khalid is one of my best friends and I'm glad the fans connected to this song. It's really beautiful to see how the song has grown little by little," Normani said at the American Music Awards.

Normani's dancing world

Love Lies revealed to the world the R&B side of Normani. However, Checklist and Slow Down represent the dancing universe with African percussion and electro, close to Drake and Rihanna. First of all, Checklist with rapper WizKid reminds us of Rihanna's Work , especially the way of singing that advocates rhythm rather than pronunciation and exact articulation. Normani exhibits a jerky, very percussive vocals, which gives a higher energy to the song.

Then, Slow Down continues in the same percussive line of Checklist in the verse but with a more experimental side to the chorus, where there is a slowing of the tempo to highlight very romantic lyrics " You can risk it, but I'll be here, I can make your lonely disappear" but I'll be there, I can make your loneliness go away).

Speaking about his first studio album, Normani said , "I'm working a lot on my first album. I had the opportunity to co-produce and write my own songs. It's something I didn't know I could do before." Normani may have a collaboration with Sam Smith "We definitely worked with Sam. I'll just say that."

Normani definitely has a very special musical universe: it is something a little far from the commercial pop of Fifth Harmony and close to dancing R'n'B. Checklist and Slow Down are two catchy tracks that present us the beginnings of an artist with a very promising future capable of finding a place in the music industry.
