It was very hot at the New Morning on February 8 for the Frosty Night. Valaire and Lyre Le Temps ensured a crazy concert that the public will remember for a long time. Justfocus was there!!

It was on a freezing winter night that Parisians and Quebecers gathered at the New Morning to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Office Franco-Québécois pour la Jeunesse (OFQJ); An important anniversary that had to be celebrated with great pomp and it was a great success !!

La Nuit Givrée: 50 years of the OFQJ

It must be said that for the occasion, the OFQJ had put the small dishes in the big ones. By renting the prestigious room on New Morning, the event is already significant. A small Parisian venue as we like them: big enough for a crazy atmosphere, but small enough to create proximity between the stage and the audience. Some alcoves with tables and chairs to sit and have a drink.

The welcome is also very caring with the public and guests. There is even a photo session in the colors of Quebec, with all the necessary accessories to pass for the perfect lumberjack: plaid shirt, squirrel, chapka, small Quebec flag… all in the company of a moose!

The evening is punctuated by small surprises, in addition to the 2 wonderful groups. The luckiest leaves with 2 plane tickets to Montreal following a draw; the other participants will also be entitled to gifts in a canvas bag bearing the effigy of the OFQJ with documentation to live in Canada, goodies of the partners and … Condoms: you're going to budge (hallucinate in Quebec)! This last detail did not fail to make us laugh.

A good-natured atmosphere that put everyone at ease from start to finish!

Lyre Le Temps warms up the public

The OFQJ folded in 4 to put us at ease. On arrival, photo with a reindeer against a background of Quebec music. Already the public gathers at the bar to exchange around a small drink. Despite the cold and snow, the New morning room fills up quickly and even if we sit down to chat, we can't wait to hear the bands. It is Lyre Le Temps that must open the ball.

For our part, we had not seen them since Solidays 2014 and to listen to their latest album and know their performance on stage, we couldn't wait to see them again. The Frosty Night was one of the few opportunities to see the Prohibition Tour. We will have to wait until May to see them on stage again, but it will be done in Verdun and Serignan.

As soon as they arrive on stage, the rather shy audience gets completely caught up in the energy of the group. In a few titles, we see the heads moving in rhythm, the foot stumbling and the eyes captivating by what is happening on stage. Because if the electro swing music is already excellent, Lyre Le Temps also ensures the show: it moves from one end of the stage to the other, it jumps and jumps everywhere

On the atypical side, Lyre Le Temps is really incredible. Between the singer Ry'M who plays the keyboard vertically, Sam, the drummer who makes faces, Marco, the bassist who rolls on the floor and holds his instrument with his feet… not to mention DJ Q who ignites the audience with hallucinating scratches.

Very communicative, they are super happy to find the Parisians who have been facing the snow for 2 days and take the opportunity to salute the performance: Strasbourg (them) in the first part of a Quebec group (VALAIRE), under the snow in Paris! They engage the audience by asking them to "make a villain's face". Their set is incredibly punchy and will end with a cover of Hit The Road Jack.

They leave us after a good hour of concert. The temperature is then very high in the room and everyone to forget the snow outside.

Valaire dynamites the New Morning

If the audience is already hot, it is not at the end of its surprises. When VALAIRE goes on stage it is a touch of madness that takes over the room. Quebecers already seem to have a solid reputation in the capital. The places where you could still circulate in the room have become impassable: the New Morning is packed!

As soon as the first notes begin, the audience shouts with joy and the enthusiasm is at its peak. Quebecers are truly at home and have an ease even on this small impressive stage. Their names are France, DRouin, Jules, Tō, Luis and we can tell you that they were happy to be in front of their French fan.

The magic happens. Their coppery, jazzy hip hop music turning electro is contagious and no one can resist it. There's a little trick to the Deluxe, or the Chinese Man. It's powerful and ultra rhythmic; It makes you want to dance! After a few pieces, the whole room stirs and dances. It's definitely too hot in the room.

Quebecers will not fail to chase the Parisian public. The VALAIRE group thanks them for coming in such large numbers despite the snow. Because yes, at home the slightest snowflake and it's the apocalypse while in Montreal, they live daily with 30 cm and -30 degrees. In the end, everyone laughs and the atmosphere is really good-natured.

As the evening comes to an end, the band has trouble leaving the stage and the audience the room: it jumps and dances everywhere. The audience is really behind VALAIRE who gives him back a hundredfold on the stage of the New Morning. We come to regret that it is so short. The group is leaving very soon in Canada, but we hope to see them again very soon !!

Leaving the room, the participants left warmed, happy and musically satisfied… and with a small gift!
What better way to end the week in style!
