Season 3 of Lucifer made its comeback on October 2 on the American channel Fox. Check out our review of the season premiere titled "They're Back, Aren't They? " Spoilers alert!
It is in the desert that we had left Lucifer in the finale of season 2, it is in the same place that we find him at the opening of the first episode of season 3. And in much better shape than the last time we saw him. The fact of having found its wings has given it back all its superb and that's saying something. Lucifer, played by Tom Ellis lets his British charm operate by regaling us with tasty and offbeat lines. Just see him get out of the new bee-eater in which he stuffed himself by forcing a GRDMSC truck (understand the Brinks of home) to stop. When he realizes that the driver is none other than a thief on the run, Lucifer will use his powers and phrasing to find his lost city: Los Angeles.
The great return (failed) of the king of hell
Once back in the Holy Land, Lucifer thought he would be greeted with tears and emotion but his expectations were dampened by the disinterest of his loved ones and more particularly that of his partner Chloe – Lauren German – who flatly announces that he has only been gone for two days.
A little fangs to his ego is not what will stop Lucifer who is determined to solve the riddle surrounding his abduction. What could be better than a corpse found in the very place where Lucifer regained consciousness to start the investigation.
This new investigation is an opportunity to re-stage the secondary characters essential to the balance of the series such as Inspector "Dush" Dan Spinoza and wacky forensic scientist Ella Lopez but especially to integrate into this third season, a new pillar character.
In the Hell family, I ask Tom
One Tom was not enough, a second one was needed and his arrival did not go unnoticed. Isn't that Chloe and Ella? Tom Welling plays Lieutenant Marcus Pierce and as much to tell you that he takes his role very seriously. When his new colleagues come to him with all fire, he does not take gloves to put them in their place by reminding them of their respective small incartades.
This first episode starts on hot coals. It smells of red for our beautiful devil who until the end of the episode does not know who he is dealing with. And when he and Chloe find the lifeless body of a key figure in the investigation, Lucifer displays a concerned expression.
Small injuries and big crashes
We would be in the same state if, in addition to having someone on our heels, we had regained our angel wings and lost our satanic face. Fortunately for us, these small inconveniences only concern the king of hell. We, poor humans, are content to revel in these passages on earth and to watch with fascination and pleasure this original series that is offered to us thanks to him.
Who blames Lucifer? Will he finally be able to reveal to Chloe who he really is? Will God reward us with one of His angelic apparitions?
This first episode is a success in every way. He leaves us with many questions but it is impatience that takes precedence over the rest. The impatience to find Lucifer and his companions in a third season always more crazy and offbeat than the previous ones.
The promotional video of episode 2 entitled "The One With The Baby Carrot" gives us a succulent taste of what happens next.
