Apple Jelly in turmoil with the clip of Leaving 2020

Apple Jelly evokes our time with the clip of Leaving 2020. The track is taken from the post-punk album Die, Motherfucker! Die! which saw the Lyon group return to the front of the stage after a long eclipse. This third album, with the nihilistic title, which is the one that opens the album, contains ten songs with sharp sounds, whose production, since 2013, has been largely revised to stick to the sound reality of 2020. The dark theme remains, until the final song, The end of our age, an impressive piece with a very Bowie resonance, and a sprawling duration of 7'47. The Lyon band Apple Jelly, aka BEnn (author, singer), SLip (composer, graphics), accompanied by Fat Kick Joe, the original drummer of the formation, managed to return to the front of the stage. Recorded in 2013, played live for several years, "Die, Motherfucker! Die!!! " waited seven years to be brought up to date by Bruno Preynat, and officially presented to his public. In this tribute to the American filmmaker Russ Meyer, the Lyon band fully assumes not only its taste for artistic insurrection, but also the diversity of its many famous musical references. From rock to punk to R&B and electronic music. From Hot Chip to Kraftwerk to LCD Soundsystem and Billie Eilish. There is in "Die, Motherfucker! Die!!! Something both intriguing and disturbing. From the opening track that gave it its name, to the haunting The End Of Our Age, which closes it, each of the album's tracks makes you want to dance and cry at the same time. Leaving 2012 refers to the Mayan calendar. December 2012 should have seen the end of this world. The fateful date having passed, in view of the events we have been experiencing since the pandemic, it seemed obvious to us to rename the title "Leaving 2020", convinced that last year is indeed the year of the end of the world as we have known it.
