Despite the cancellation of the MaMA Festival, the teams of Trois Baudets and Ulysse Maison d'Artistes offered us last Thursday a concert by Lombre, a young artist who definitely tends towards the light and arrives in force in the French musical landscape.

Lombre came out of the dark to shine on stage. After Vesoul, Paris, Vauréal, Strasbourg and yesterday the closing of this small tour in Troyes, back on his performance in the capital on October 15 at Les Trois Baudets, in the heart of the night owl district of Pigalle.

A mesmerizing performance

Lombre aux Trois Baudets is; An intimate concert hall that fills up little by little and ends up being full. Lights that go out and barely let us glimpse the shadows of the spectators' heads. But it is also a concert opening that begins with Flo, the guitarist who tuned and played the guitar, an instrument that he deliberately diverts first with a bow and then with a screwdriver. However, the show does not really begin until Lombre arrives on stage. Singular lyrics accompanied by striking melodies. He is an artist who lays himself bare and shares his anxieties and fears through his introspective texts. A vision of the world that is full of complexity that he describes in paradoxes. Precise and touching, Lombre has a fresh and dynamic style that is felt.

A first EP released in 2017 entitled Eau Trouble and a second, La Lumière du noir in 2020. He sings and interprets his titles such as La lumière du noir, Quand la ville dort encore. When he sings La Colombe , a song that illustrates a flight and a liberation, we go from melancholy to joy and euphoria with Dort petit dort in a catchy chorus. That evening is the second date where he also presents his song Mon étoile, trouver son étoile une cible that he declaims in this song during which he uses his audience and their smartphones to create a luminous constellation.

"Hope is black but hope is not dead"

Lombre closes the concert with his latest title Espoir noir released on September 2nd. The hope is black but "the light still shines", words repeated in unison by the spectators following the tempo imposed by the singer until his departure from the stage where his voice still sounds

Words that perfectly illustrate the situation of our current cultural sector which, despite the energy and motivation deployed by the teams and professionals, has to face the cancellation of festivals and the shutdown or slowdown of many theaters. The striking darkness of his lyrics leads to a glimmer and a positive note: "to speak of our darkness, our open wounds to try to heal them together and to go together towards the light, towards the hope of better days."

A great discovery that we hope to see again on November 17 on the Parisian scene!

It is therefore without any shadow on the board that we invite you to discover his new and second EP without further delay! Discover also exclusively his interview for Justfocus here
