With her first album Petite Amie (Barclay), Juliette Armanet dazzles the French musical sphere. An equal, charming and refreshing opus that will leave no one indifferent.
We counted her among our artists to watch for 2017 in January. In April, Juliette Armanet unveiled her first album Petite Amie. His single L'amour en Solitaire already gave us goosebumps for several months. After being compared to Véronique Sanson thanks to the beauty of her lyrics and because she plays the piano, it was necessary to realize that Juliette Armanet was indeed a singular artist and not a pale copy of her formidable elder.
The main interested party, who won the InRocKs Labs competition in 2014, has always said she was surprised by this comparison, she who was much more inspired by William Sheller. That's where it gets interesting. Listening to this first album, we clearly feel the influence of the virtuoso in the atmosphere of this young apprentice who invites us to a journey full of sweet tales of disappointed and passionate love. The title Alexandre is a statement as beautiful as Mr. Sheller's greatest headlines. We also feel the powerful soul of these songs that sometimes remind us of Christophe.

Is musical storytelling reborn in France? With Girlfriend, Juliette Armanet seems to weigh the answer in the affirmative. With a fluent, deep and very melodious voice, Juliette allows in 12 titles to make us float. The titles follow one another in an even atmosphere without ever becoming monotonous or tiresome. Whether the music is danceable or melancholic, it remains of quality. The language of Molière is treated with the respect it deserves.
Some titles stand out like A Saturday Night in History, Alexander, Lack of Love and of course Love alone. Juliette Armanet's music seems out of time. It reminds us of distant musical times that resonate perfectly in 2017. Nothing old-fashioned or vintage, just the class of timeless music.
This first chapter of the Armanet story still leaves us hungry. After such a beautifully told story, we are waiting for the sequel. In any case, it is a remarkable first attempt that deserves to be applauded and that makes us want to taste the rest.
Juliette Armanet has in any case ignored fashions while remaining oh so current. An artist that we will have fun following for a long time!
