Jul and Michel Polnareff: meeting of the third kind

It's a musical crossover that we would (really) never have considered. And yet, we have not forgotten Le Temps passe, on which met THE hardcore band of the 90s, Ministry A.Mr.E.A. and Johnny. Yes, Hallyday. One hell of a boy band… Debatable. That was in 2006 and time passed. Almost fifteen years later, two other rap and pop UFOs, Jul and Michel Polnareff, meet before our amazed eyes… And through our confined screens. Yet, rap has seen it pass. We were warned! Over the years, other mind-boggling encounters have been added to the long list of confusing duos, sometimes real accidents along the way. Mokobé with Arielle Dombasle, for example. But also Passi and Calogéro, Sinik and James Blunt, Booba and Christine and the Queens. Or Alkpote and Philippe Katerine, lately. Or Alkpote always, but with Bilal Hassani. And Jok'air in the clip, in the back of the car. Which almost reminds us of Gynéco, in Bernard Tapie's taxi… "Almost"? So from very, very far. But we digress. OM is not far away nevertheless… Spend. After announcing the imminent release of his new album, entitled La Machine, Jul innovates and demands the participation of Internet users for the creation of the cover of the project. Given the number of proposals relayed on social networks, a voting contest was even organized on Jul's Instagram account. The rapper has previously selected about twenty covers. And among the voters… Michel Polnareff himself gave his opinion. Do you find it unlikely, out of nowhere? Nothing new under the sun of networks, however. Indeed, in recent weeks, the virtual friendship between these two continues to amuse Internet users. At the origin of this rapprochement, the apology of Polnareff after a misunderstanding on unflattering remarks made during a live against Jul. Little resentful, the Marseille rapper with a big heart quickly forgave him. Hang on, the rest is just as implausible: first, Polnareff photographs himself by making the sign of Jul, and of course posts this feat on Instagram. Jul, teasing, retorts with a montage of their faces, modeled on each other. The latest episode of this alien camaraderie is Polnareff's response to a short video posted by the rapper, announcing his 20th album. The singer with white-rimmed glasses allowed himself a witty comment: "The UFO", in double reference to the nickname of Jul, known as the UFO, and to his own title "Love Me, Please Love Me", released in 1965. The rapper's response was not long in coming. Jul immediately proposed to Michel Polnareff a featuring, which he would integrate into this album. Yes, yes. So inevitably, the prospect of such a duo has been unleashing passions and especially speculations. All you have to do is wait for "Michou's" answer… Definitely, Jul will have been talked about during this confinement. Last month, he already distinguished himself with a generous donation of 30,000 euros to the order of the Fondation des hôpitaux de France to enable them to equip themselves during this period of health crisis. With this in mind, he had even organized the charity auction of all his certifications. And as much to tell you that there are a few… Other artists such as Orelsan, Oxmo Puccino, Kalash Criminel, Mister V or Djaja and Dinaz had followed suit. In total, more than 300,000 euros were raised to help hospital staff. Another proof that the Marseille rapper federates and knows how to gather around him. Whether it's an auction… Or a duet with Michel Polnareff.
