Yassine Stein is a member of L'ordre Collectif in which he intervenes as a director, alongside Mohamed Chabane and Adrien Lagier. Also known for being the official backer of his best friend Lomepal, he returns here to defend his first EP: Hayat.

From video to audio

The name Yassine Stein may not be unknown to you. Since before fully embarking on writing and rapping, he worked behind the camera within L'ordre Collectif. We could notably find him alongside Dario Fau for the realization of the clip Yeux Dit de Lomepal or as assistant director on the clip of Ego. He also rubs shoulders with the rap scene, always with his best friend Lomepal, whom he backs during his various tours. Yassine Stein then revealed, during an interview for Grünt, to have always written texts from right to left, without thinking of really getting into rap. It was during the Planète Rap de Lomepal, during which he performed a freestyle, that Yassine Stein had a click: to fully embark on the writing and design of a project in his name.

5 titles as an identity card

Yassine Stein took 1 year and a half before finalizing and unveiling his first EP. He confides that he also threw away a lot of pieces, dissatisfied with the result. The title of the project, Hayat meaning "life" in Arabic, perfectly sums up the themes of the EP. It is simply a succession of songs in which the rapper depicts his daily life: love, friendship, family… Hayat is a project that presents 2 facets of its personality: one that wants to be ambitious and the other, totally disillusioned and marked by a pessimistic vision. These 2 facets are visible from the 1st track of the project, 2021, in which he sings:

"A glorious future against a dark past (…) I dreamed of a better world but I'm more than sixteen."

It is also an EP that finally reveals that humans are filled with contradictions between what they may have thought in the past, what they think today and what they will think later.

Halfway between Paris and Casablanca

Of Moroccan origin, through his 2 parents, Yassine Stein incorporates this heritage by singing some of the pieces in Darija, a Moroccan dialect. Being a project in which he confides a lot about his life, he "found it legitimate to do it also in Arabic". His lyrics are accompanied by prods, which are also marked by various influences. Here again, there is a strong emphasis on oriental atmospheres. The artist speaks of an "EP of experimentation on the musical level". And what is certain is that the result is more than convincing! Hayat is an EP that allows us to fully grasp the artist's universe. The project is both personal and friendly, especially thanks to the 2 featurings, with Moussa on one side on Chtah and the Swiss Slimka on 18 on the other. This is a good identity card accompanied by instrumentals accentuating the eclectic aspect of the texts. In any case one thing is certain, it will continue to follow closely this rapper who is no longer just the "backer of" but an artist in his own right. You can already discover it via the video clip of 2021, the first track of the project.
