Separated after their fourth album in 2006, the American rock band Grandaddy is now back with a new album soberly called Last Place.
In early 2012, after six years of separation, the five members of Grandaddy announced to reform for a few concerts including one for the 10th anniversary of Rock En Seine. Following this, each member of the group has put his own to unveil in March a new album unexpected fans.
Grandaddy: What is the essence of the band?
Named Last Place, this opus is composed of 12 titles that bring together everything that made the success of the quintet. Rock music that is very close to the indie genre, that's what characterizes the essence of Grandaddy. The many instruments can thus be reminiscent of several pieces of the Gallagher brothers' band, Oasis. For his part, the voice of singer Jason Lytle is close to that of Neil Young. Grandaddy could pass for a simple copy and paste of the best influences of the genre. Yet, the group has managed to create a widely recognizable identity.
