Dowdelin is back with a great animated video for his new single: Funky Chicken. A hectic track to be found on the new EP of the group, Poul Wélélé, available on Underdog Records. We discovered Dowdelin last year with his first album Carnaval Odyssey, which carried high the Creole language, with music between jazz and electro. Conscious music, but also dance music, Dowdelin has established itself worldwide with its original formula. This allowed him to give concerts outside our borders. At the helm, we find the Lyon producer David Kildjian alias Dawatile, whose list of projects is dizzying! Plaster Cats, Dowdelin, HILA, BKO, Voodoo Game, Armad & Cyme etc. He is joined by Olivya on vocals and Raphaël Philibert on percus and saxophone. The band mixes Caribbean sounds and African-American influences, attempting to sketch a Creole Afro-futurism. On the model of the construction of a Creole dialect, "dowdelin" evokes by contraction a nod in French, a nonchalant approach in English.
"Chicken bicycle Usain Bolt from the chicken coop You'll never catch me! Little mom you plant the seed, you want to eat me Little mom you plant the seed, you'll fail Oh, you'll never catch me!"
Here are the lyrics between Creole and French of the title Funky Chicken. A title that shows the roots and culture of each of the musicians of the trio. Olivya sings in Martinique Creole. David Kiledjian was nourished by hip-hop and funk. Raphaël Philibert is a polyinstrumentalist of Guadeloupean origin. Between them, they form this Caribbean electro trio that psychedelizes everything it touches. And it gives a terrible urge to dance. For the video of Funky Chicken, the band called on the Californian artist Mica Jennings, who drew the plans of this video in animation, full of rhythms and colors. Dowdelin unveils with Funky Chicken, an extract from their new EP, released a few weeks ago, to make us wait for a next album. Here is as promised the clip of Dowdelin Ft. Pat Kalla – Funky Chicken.
