On May 19, English artist GJtheCaesar released his first single entitled Gyrate. En featuring avec Ayûû. We find Nosa Apollo in the production as well as Hugues as director of the clip. Regarding the music, it is a title with pop and groovy sounds carried by an effective chorus. The artist has produced a real hymn to the party. More than necessary with summer approaching. On this occasion, we had the honor to speak with this new artist from a booming English music scene. Focus! GJtheCaesar, real name Gabriel Junior, is a 25-year-old Englishman from Nigeria. He lived there, but he was born and studied in England. It was on May 19 that he unveiled to the general public his first single Gyrate, English word meaning to turn around something fixed. According to him "Gyrate means movement, dance". This idea is well transcribed in the clip because we see him dancing around a girl. "The way she dances makes me want to dance with her."

An English music scene on the rise

To the question: "How do you compose your music? " " When I wrote Gyrate, I just wanted people to feel good listening to it," he reveals about the creation of the title. We can say that it achieves its goal as the title exudes the joy of living and gives good humor. In addition, his sources of inspiration in terms of music are very varied but remain mainly from hip-hop culture. For example, he cites Michael Jackson, The weeknd, Jay-z or Pharrell. Moreover, in the clip, we can see a GQ magazine with Pharrell Williams on the cover, so the circle is closed. Discover Gyrate, a dance single by GJtheCaesar! GJtheCaesar loves music above all else, no matter what genre or who makes it. "There's always something that can inspire you when you listen to music." Inspirations that also come from France. Indeed, he greatly appreciates French culture. In addition, it is in France that the artist has his largest number of listeners. As an English artist, we had to ask him how he felt about the meteoric rise of the new English music scene. Even more so today with the explosion of the UK drill. Artists like Dave, Jorja Smith, Octavian or Mahalia to name a few, have managed to bring a light back to the city of London. "There's a lot of talent in England, it's unbelievable. Jorja Smith, Dave it's amazing what they do. I listen to Octavian's music a lot too." It is hoped that Gabriel will achieve international fame just like his colleagues.

Music and confinement

As you know, the world has gone through an unprecedented health crisis. Many sectors have been very affected, including music. It was necessary to ask how the artist is doing but above all the man during this very special period. "I made a lot of music because there weren't many other things to do," he laughs. "I also read a lot, supported the Black Lives Matter movement. I also had to check on my loved ones, make sure they were well. It's a special moment, we've never experienced a situation like this." The single "Gyrate" was released during this period. Which means very little promo. Nevertheless, the title still managed to export. To date, there have been 40,000 listens. Africa: a source of inspiration

England has a large Nigerian community. GJtheCaesar is one of them. While it makes sense that he is inspired by the English scene, it is natural that the Nigerian scene is also a source of inspiration. You bet! With artists such as Wizkid, Burna Boy, (for whom he has a real admiration to the point of considering him "the best African artist") or Davido, who have collaborated with artists like Drake, Future or Chris Brown. This naturally commands the respect and admiration of a whole youth. He, who goes to his home country every year, has an even sharper eye for capturing the passion and talent of the Nigerian music scene. He also mentions Rema, a young artist who has been a hit in the world with his hit Dumebi . Discover Gyrate, a dance single by GJtheCaesar! Beyond the music, GjtheCaesar seeks to convey a message, that of self-acceptance as a black person. Indeed, he tells us this:

"I did it on purpose, as a black man, I wanted to glorify the black community through this clip. A lot of black people have inspired me like my mom, my family and friends, they need a platform, a voice to represent them."

In his clip, we can find a magazine cover with the inscription "Black power", black women of different shades, light women and darker women, proudly sporting their natural hair as if to detach themselves from complexes. "It's a celebration of black people, that's what I also wanted to show in this clip." In summary, Gyrate is many things at once but above all a very good single. The first of a project that should be announced shortly. Released two months ago, the song is spreading and gradually gaining listeners around the world.
