This is an announcement that will delight our beginning of the year! Rosemary Standley (Moriarty) and Dom la Nena reunite for a new show with their project Birds On a Wire for 2018.
The first is the voice of Moriarty, the second is a virtuoso of the cello. Between them, they bring together grace, mystery and poetry.
Created in 2012, Birds on a Wire is a surprising duo that has seduced more than one media since its creation. Acclaimed by the public since their debut, Rosemary Standley and Dom la Nena delighted us with their respective strings with unparalleled elegance and originality. Their covers embrace a wide musical field: classical ( Monteverdi, Purcell) or pop (John Lennon), blues / rock (Tom Waits) … They were remembered and we couldn't wait to see them reunited.
The two birds will fly together again in 2018 to our delight. Rosemary and Dom decided to write a second chapter to their common history and surprise us even more by tackling other monuments of music: Pink Floyd, Cat Stevens, Chico Buarque, Nazaré Pereira, Bob Dylan … Suffice to say that we are looking forward to the opportunity to hear them in concert!
This morning, she offers us a sublime clip for Blessed is the memory a cover of Leonard Cohen who appeared at the opening of their previous album, released in March 2014.
This little-known song is of finesse and simplicity. We find Rosemary's storyteller qualities and the sonic inventiveness of Dom la Nena on the cello. It's beautiful and touching!
The video is directed by Jeremiah who has already collaborated with musicians from all walks of life: R.E.M. Dom La Nena, Tinariwen, Sophie Hunger, The Dø, Camille, Erik Truffaz, Piers Faccini… The director is currently preparing a feature film.
Here, he offers an animated photo album in sepia and black and white. Moving, the two women embody two intersecting stories and the mix of current shots / archives works very well. This clip illustrates the universe that emerges when listening to the music of Birds on a Wire: nostalgia, a vague melancholy and a sad clown smile.
