This end of year 20018 is busy in concert, but Justfocus offers you to focus on the artists to discover live… Or how to marvel at those you don't know yet!

After a busy summer of festival, we always wonder what will make us vibrate at the end of the year. So of course, there are always plenty of headliners and we are always spoilt for choice. But what we love most about Justfocus is to encourage you to go see those you would not have thought of first.

Let's go for a small non-exhaustive list of artists to discover (or not), but especially to enjoy live!

September 2018

Lucius – To the Stars on September 4th

With already 4 albums to their credit, Lucius' girls keep a fresh pop that sounds a little retro. But not that smells of mothball; rather nostalgic for a beautiful carefree time. We love their vocal harmony and the peacefulness of their titles. Big crush on Woman ! Close your eyes and let yourself go.

Dan Owen – At 1999 Oberkampf on September 7

We had completely hallucinated when we discovered for the first time this angel's boil on stage. We did not imagine for a moment the blues storm that would fall on us. Whether with beautiful ballads or rougher songs or blues classics, Dan Owen can only seduce you!

Joe Bel – At Trois Baudets on September 10

Falsely fragile and above all purely sensitive, Joe Bel is the sweetness of folk combined with the warmth of Soul. Discovered by Asaf Avidan, she returns to amaze us with her compositions and her freshness. Let yourself be carried away by its pleasant song like a light autumn breeze.

Roni Alter – At the Carmen on September 12

Met in the first part of Tamino, this young Israeli is of a simplicity and authenticity that can not leave you marble. She knew how to make her music reign in an attentive silence to the Maroquinerie during her last visit. We are sure that the Carmen will suit him perfectly!

Kristel – At the Bellevilloise on September 18

Small rock pearl from the islands, but beware, who rubs it may become completely addicted … Kristel is strong, powerful and electric music. A super original voice and a communicative energy. Did not miss the return of this young woman from Madagascar to Paris for a concert that will shake you!

Marian Hill – AtBellevilloise on September 19

We discovered them with his title Down and we were conquered for the electric pop uncapped and sparkling. A lot of sensuality in the voice and a lot of creativity in the use of machines. Behind the name Marian Hill hides an American duo: Jeremy Lloyd and Samantha Gongol on vocals. A beautiful discovery awaits you.

Lauv – At Yoyo in September

If you came across the acoustic version of Chasing Fire, you surely fell for this tender and chilling voice. His playlist I MET YOU WHEN I WAS 18 telling his love story is a touching project that you can listen to live in September while waiting for his album scheduled for early 2019.

Flor – At 1999 in the Oberkampf district on September 23rd

Rock sprinkled with synths that has pop chords without being too sweet: here is a small band from the U.S.A. that caught our curiosity. With already 2 albums, they arrive in France to try to make themselves known and it's worth the detour!

October 2018

Cloves – Aux Étoiles on October 10

Warm and captivating voice, here is another young woman who asks to be known. Cloves (Kaity Dunstan) has a beautiful aura, a poignant sensitivity and a style that is reminiscent of Lana del Rey… Australian version. His debut album One Big Nothing was released on September 28.

Lany – Aux Étoiles on October 13

The trio of L.Has. Lany, come back and we've been excited since this summer ! Intense and well-calibrated indie pop that makes you want to move, love and get high. Carried by the voice of Paul Jason Klein, the group makes a detour to Paris and we are so happy. We strongly recommend that you go see them!

Stu Larsen & Natsuki Kuraï – To the Stars on October 15

To communicate, Stu and Natsuki have found nothing better than music and to our delight, it gives an intimate and light folk project that smells of travel, friendship and exudes joie de vivre. To share in concert of course!

Novo Amor – At the Maroquinerie on October 24th

We discovered them at MaMA Event last year and we can't wait to see them on stage again in a longer format. Novo Amor is about to release a first album on October 19th and they will come to Paris to present Birthplace, a musical and ecological project.

Kiddy Smile – Lyrical gaiety on October 25

This name must mean something to you. The king of Voguing in France was talked about at the music festival this year where he completely shocked the Elysée with a frenzied set and demands… by very Catholic! To have seen it at the Eurockéennes, the concert of Kiddy Smile, it is a show not to be missed!

St Paul And The Broken Bones – At the Élysée Montmartre on October 27

One of my darlings and one of the most involved and powerful singers I know. Paul Janeway will honor us with his presence and preach the titles of his new album, Young Sick Camellia which will be released on September 7th. In Soul, Rhythm & Blues, the upcoming tracks seem to be more Funky! We're stumbling!

The month of October is also an opportunity to run in the halls of a lower Montmartre and Pigalle during the MAma Event, an incredible festival where the watchword is musical discoveries!

November 2018

Rainbow Kitten Surprise – To the Stars on November 6th

If the name of this group seems completely what the fuck, know that with this quintet, it's no laughing matter. Their indie music is impressively rich evolving between funky or soft melodies and unexpected rhythmic changes. I say everything but I say nothing? To find out more, come and see them in concert!

Sparky In The Clouds – Au Hasard Ludique on November 8th

Favorite in the first part of Gunwood, these 2 sisters, Miranda and Bryony Perkins, with the perfect vocal harmony we completely melted. She is about to release a debut album on September 21 that will undoubtedly be as good as their first EP. Bluesy folk that can be listened to without moderation.

Melissa Laveaux – At the Gaîté Lyrique on November 9

Velvet and rocky voice at the same time… soul at will; Song from elsewhere, steeped in Haitian culture, borrowed words from the people… To hear Melissa Laveaux is to go far, where contemporary music meets the history of its origins. It's touching and beautiful!

Shakey Graves – At the Leather Goods on November 10

In the series of artists alone on stage who slap you, Shakey Graves is one of those you should not miss. Suffice to say that we warmly recommend you to go listen to this talented young man, strum his guitar and give all his energy. His slightly scratchy voice and humor will seduce you.

Kokia – At La Cigale on November 11

Japanese diva with a magical voice, Kokia is back in France. His pop music is incredibly pure and his titles have already been used in multiple movies, Japanese anime and animated movies. If the kind of you is unfamiliar and you are not used to singing in Japanese, know that the thrill is guaranteed: run to take your place!

Bernhoft – At the Bataclan OU Sigrid – At the Gaîté Lyrique on November 15th

Difficult choice that day between two Norwegians: the multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, Bernfoft, who makes a lightning and unique passage in Paris before going to try to win a Grammy… And the vibrant freshness of Sigrid, a little bubble of happiness, sparkling, a real pop-star in the making that we love! The choice is yours…

Otherwise we will have to wait for the concert of Maroon 5 in June 2019 to see Sigrid again in the first part.

Yuna – At the Bellevilloise on November 16

Originally from Malaysia, Yuna is one of those women with an enchanting voice that we don't hear often enough. It is also with pleasure that we learn that she is on tour in Europe and will come to see us… Maybe with novelty?

Eden-  At Yoyo on November 21

Discovery and revelation: EDEN is a superb project carried by the voice of Irish singer Jonathan Ng. The first album was released at the beginning of the year and it is a small pearl that sails between alternative rock, indie pop and electro. Soaring and soft, gripping and intense. To see without fail!

Soom T – At the Trabendo on November 22nd

After releasing a new album in the spring, the young Scottish is back for a few dates in France. We remember his energy and his incredible flow. So we are very curious to see what his latest album gives on stage. Not you?

Soom T was at the Télérama Dub Festival in 2017

Sarah McCoy – European on November 26

Another discovery made at the MaMA Event last year. And what a surprise! Piano-voice, Blues, vocal power, Sarah is a diva who does not skimp on staging and who does not lack humor. An excellent moment in perspective in a divine setting.

December 2018

Mammal HandsAt La Cigale on December 4th

British jazz trio, whose compositions tend noticeably towards electro. Elaborate music that has no equal to dig and dig deep into a pure emotion. The compositions are neat, the execution is authentic. A real moment of music to live in the setting of La Cigale.

Lewis Capaldi – Au Point FMR on December 4

A voice that breaks when it expresses the intensity of its emotions and that knows how to be tender and whispers when it speaks of emotions. This sober and deep timbre that hits you in the heart. There are singers who are made to speak to you directly and this concert may warm you from the inside.

Fatoumata Diawara – At the trianon on December 11

The Malian singer, whose voice delighted M's LAMOMALI project, will present on stage her latest album released last May. Fenfo is a great mix of Wassoulou, pop, folk and sunshine. The singer has something to tell us and we will be all ears!

Zeal and Ardor – At La Cigale on December 12

My big crush, my romp and my revelation! If I've been listening to this band for some time now, seeing them live at the Eurockéennes gave me a hell of a slap from which I still have trouble recovering. That's why I recommend you go see Manuel Gagneux and his gang in December.

Suzane – Aux Étoiles on December 13

It was introduced to you as the feminine Stromae, but it is more than that! Suzane is a ball of energy on stage. These crazy choreographies and her sincerity are reminiscent of Sia. In short, a young woman full of talent and spontaneity specific to the people of the south that you will adore.

Steve Hogarth – At Saint Eustatius Church on December 13

He is the voice of Marillion and what he offers is a piano voice concert with all that we know of introspection and ability to make you travel in you. His music and his skin-deep singing convey such an emotional charge that it is easy to imagine what a delight this concert will be. We shiver in advance!

Of course this list is subjective and incomplete. We recommend that you be attentive, to visit the site regularly and especially to be curious, adventurous, sometimes impulsive and to let yourself be carried away by your instinct and your love of music.

We wish you good concerts!
… And we will not fail to tell you which ones we will cover these next 4 months;)
