Annika and The Forest returns on October 1st with the pop album Even La Nuit. We reveal the first extract on JustFocus, it is called Pretence and worth a look with its kitsch and offbeat video as we like. Swedish musician Annika Grill and her project Annika and the Forest are back on October 01, 2021 with a third album called Even The Night in which she reveals a style even more assertive than in the past with intimate and melancholic electro-pop songs. With a fragile voice, some intonations of which are reminiscent of those of Portishead singer Beth Gibbons, Annika imprints her paw on a delicate album, all in emotions, which alternates atmospheres, between dance-floor oriented songs in the early morning and slow and moving titles. A beautiful confirmation for this artist with multiple charms. Annika Grill directed the music video herself with photographer Daisy Reillet. The title is the first single from the 3rd album Même La Nuit. The new album was recorded in Gothenburg, Sweden with producer and arranger Charles Storm (Mando Diao, Håkan Hellström, Roxette, Surfer Rosa…). We find on this title the musicians who accompany the career of Annika: Edith Fambuena (guitars, keyboards) and Zoé Hochberg (programming, drums). The theme of the Pretence video is unveiled with an extravagant blonde who mocks the insults evoked in the lyrics. When she struggles to be heard underwater, we wonder if she risks drowning, but a vision of sublime naiads transports us to a world … where nothing is taken seriously. The best is still to see the clip directly, because in this surprising and imaginative video, nothing goes as planned.
