Contrary to tradition, Wonder Woman 2 will not be a traditional sequel. Director Patty Jenkins has reportedly hinted that this new installment would be script-free.
In an interview for Entertainment Tonight in Canada, Patty Jenkins would have revealed new clues about the second installment of Wonder Woman, currently in preparation. She then allegedly confided:
"We're making a totally different film, but at the same time with a lot of things in common, similar in the sense that we've put things that we like. But it's a completely independent film. So it's not a "two" for us. It's an entirely new adventure we're doing together, and we couldn't be luckier to do it."
Lately, Jenkins had already made some revelations about this sequel which is not quite one. It therefore announced:
"We're going to explore other facets of the character in order to make a film that's great, entertaining and fun at the same time, that, in its final act, will open up with really important issues and a fundamental experience that will aim to bring a little more depth and gravity to the genre."
She went on to say:
"I like the idea of taking a heroine through a powerful epic that leads to an important question that needs to be answered. She is Wonder Woman now and she is fully accomplished, it will be very funny from the start, with a superheroic dimension present from the beginning. There will be another beautiful love story and two new characters that I like very, very different from the first film."
The U.S. theatrical release of Wonder Woman 2, originally scheduled for December 13, 2019, was brought forward to early November of that year to avoid a clash with Star Wars: Episode IX. Until then, we still have some time for new revelations…
