Emotion sequence at the MTV Movie Awards on May 7. Vin Diesel took the stage to receive the "Generation Award" and paid a beautiful tribute to his friend and Fast & Furious partner, Paul Walker. A thought in memory of the award their duo had received 15 years earlier for Fast & Furious.
Vin Diesel, aka Dom Toretto in the Fast & Furious saga, gave a very moving speech for his friend and partner Paul Walker whom he considered his brother. He died in a car accident on November 30, 2013. On behalf of the entire Fast & Furious family, he accepted the "Generation Award" recognizing the franchise's influence in the entertainment world.
Alongside his partners Tyrese Gibson (Roman), Michelle Rodriguez (Letty) and Jordan Brewster (Mia), the actor also returned to the award he received with Paul Walker, 15 years ago: "In 2002, I was here on this stage and MTV gave me to Paul Walker and me, An award for the best duo. And now 15 years later, I'm with my whole family and you're giving us the Generation Award… I could never go on stage and talk about Fast & Furious without expressing my love for my brother Pablo (Paul Walker), our brother Pablo. We hope you are proud. Thank you very much."
Vin Diesel also took the opportunity to highlight the importance of diversity conveyed in the saga: "I want to thank a whole generation who wanted to see a multicultural franchise where the color of the skin and the country from which we come do not impose. Family is family."
The soul of Paul Walker and his character Brian O'Conner still haunt the saga whose 8th opus is still in theaters. The film has also grossed more than a billion dollars worldwide !
His younger brother Cody Walker lives the name of his eldest through his charity, Reach Out Worldwide. He also announced that the next installment of the saga will take place in Australia: "Fans deserve to have Fast & Furious 9 here. It's still a new place and they (the actors) haven't come here yet. It's been a long time coming."
As you can see, this evening of the MTV Movie Awards was very rich in emotions as evidenced by the moving tribute paid by Vin Diesel to his partner, friend and brother Paul Walker.
