We already talked about it recently, HBO has given in to the demands of fans of the DC universe and the Snyder Cut will indeed take place. The new Justice League is scheduled to air on May 27, 2021. DC didn't want to do it, though.
A film very different from the original
Since the release of the film in 2017, Justice League has experienced many problems including production. After director Zack Snyder left following the death of his daughter, the project was handed over to Joss Whedon. However, Snyder is the only one to have the credit as the director of the film. Still, it was completely rewritten by Whedon, who had already directed Avengers earlier. The version was particularly controversial especially since, according to the original filmmaker Snyder, his original vision was very different. The movie that will be released in 2021 promises to be completely different from the one already released , it will restore the cut content, but it will also remove parts added by Whedon.
A Justice League that was not wanted
The choice to replace Snyder with Whedon was not surprising. The results of Zack Snyder's films, Man Of Steel and Batman V Superman, were not extraordinary. Unlike Whedon's Avengers , which was a box office hit, it had the support of Warner. According to Screenrant , Geoff Johns, who co-directed DC Films, even explained that the DC Universe would change and become more optimistic in the characters in the future. In addition, long before Snyder left, the script of Justice League had encountered multiple problems. The results of Batman V Superman forced Warner Bros. to make changes while the film was already in production. Warner Bros. even asked outside writers to comment on the script because they were not satisfied with Snyder's work. Warner Bros. would not have wanted Snyder's version for Justice League to be broadcast. They probably would have used Snyder's resignation to make the movie they wanted. The fact that HBO Max allows the Snyder Cut will complicate the plans of the DCEU (the DC universe).
No new filming planned
Regarding the future Snyder Cut, do not expect a new shoot to be made. According to The Wrap:
"There will be no new shoots of any kind with the actors. There will only be additional votes. Here's a piece of information that hasn't been reported yet: Snyder wanted to shoot again, but HBO Max said no. We give you money for post-production, special effects, music and even redubbing on the dialogues, but no reshoot for this film."
The budget is between $20 million and $30 million. Substantial figures that will surely allow the filmmaker to make a film to his desire.
