Did you miss him? Tom Holland is back in theaters for his new film: Uncharted. Adaptation of the famous video game, the film tells us about the quest for the greatest lost treasure. Breathtaking action scenes, Ruben Fleischer signs his new blockbuster.

What's it about?

Nathan Drake, played by Tom Holland, has been dreaming of adventure since childhood with his older brother Sam Drake (Rudy Pankow). They often talk about a lost treasure, which they would like to find. Living in boarding school, one evening, Sam decides to leave. As of that evening, Drake will never see his brother again. Years later, a man named Victor "Sully" Sullivan, played by Mark Wahlberg, comes to offer him to go in search of this famous treasure. They then go on an adventure to find this treasure, and perhaps find out what happened to Sam.

From action to the rendezvous… But not that

You know video games, the hero always has to go through a few bad guys before he can fight the end boss. Here, it's the same. But it must be recognized, the public is served as far as action scenes are concerned. Hang in there, because from the beginning of the film, you will be propelled into the air. Jumps, scenes of hand fights but also armed. Everything is there to immerse you in the heart of an upside-down adventure. Some scenes would almost make us imagine that we are at home, in front of the TV, controller in hand to play. Even the costumes remind us of video game designs.

So the action is present, but the story does not always hold our attention. At times, the film becomes long and the story quite basic. We know treasure hunt stories. One could have thought that this one would stand out, but this is not the case. Carried by the interpreter of the spider man, his partner is almost transparent, in any case, very unstriking. Still, you'd think an actor like Mark Wahlberg would play his role well, but that's not the case. Small disappointment for that.

Goonies to Jumanji

As said before, Uncharted does not particularly stand out from the adventure feature films that we may know. A quest reminiscent of the search for the movie The Goonies, and the action that plunges us back into Jumanji, which propels its protagonists inside a game. Like an air of déjà vu, but that works all the same.

The film remains nice to watch, without being a great masterpiece. You will still enjoy seeing it. A surprise is even reserved for fans of the game: a scene from the video game made in the film. Some will recognize it easily, but for that, it will be necessary to wait for the release date of the film in dark theaters: February 16.
