The current period is that we find ourselves (for most of us) confined to the house. Do you want to relativize your situation of confinement? Here is a small anthology of movies with the worst scenes of confinement.
American Nightmare
In the first film of the saga, we follow a family living in an America where crime is such that the government allows a happy night every year during which all crimes are legal. No police, no hospitals, in the dark for 12 hours. A beautiful night in perspective.
The Prey (1971)
It is the story of a Northern soldier in the middle of the Civil War who is injured in battle. Fortunately for him, he is taken in a boarding school for young Southern girls, although it is strictly forbidden to hide and treat a soldier from the opposing camp. From there, in this house, without being able to move, will arise a tension between the man and the women, between the fear of the adversary, to be discovered and a sexual desire more and more present.
Buried
Poor Paul Conroy wakes up locked in a box that looks like a coffin in the middle of Iraq. His time and oxygen are running out. He must therefore do as quickly as possible to get out alive from what could well become his deathbed. Not very fun as an alarm clock, is it? We'll think about it when we get up from our cozy mattress at 10am.
Panic room
This film is about a single mother and her daughter moving into a beautiful house in an upscale neighborhood of New York. With the bonus of a superb safety room to take refuge in case of problems. Do you see the confusion coming? And it did not miss since on the first night, three burglars break into their home to steal a huge amount of money, apparently hidden in the house. In short, a night of confinement with thugs. Nice welcome in the neighborhood.
Split
Three teenage girls are kidnapped by a man and locked in a cell. Which is not very reassuring basic. But it turns out that the kidnapper also has some personality disorders. He doesn't just have two or three personalities, no. Literally twenty-three characters wander around in her head, including a beast that, just with this name, does not make you want to meet her… So who will be the next character to enter their cell?
Alone on Mars
Do we need to say more? Ok, he's not locked in a room but the guy is alone and on Mars. And he must manage on his own to hope one day to see the beautiful expanses of grass and the terrestrial asphalt again. Nice challenge.
The Crime of the Orient Express (2017)
This good old Hercule Poirot thought he was going home, after solving one more case in Istanbul. But that was without counting on a murder that occurs on the train that takes him back to London. No choice, he remains locked in the cars with the few passengers as well as the staff of the Orient-Express. And of course, among them, a murderer who must be found. Good atmosphere on board!
10 Cloverfield Lane
Another difficult awakening, but this time not in a box, phew! On the other hand, Michelle is in a bunker with two men she knows nothing about. She wants to leave but is told that it is impossible. But really impossible, since outside it's somehow the end of the world…Who to believe? His instinct or these two strangers?
The Platform
In this film, released in France on Netflix recently, Goreng, the main character, is locked in a cell with a stranger and a book he brought back. Already this is a good start. But as if that wasn't enough, there's a platform that goes down to their cell every day with food on it. Well, if there are any left, since the platform passes through all the cells above them before. So, on floor 4, it's okay, on the other hand at level 150, as much to tell you that you will have to lick the plates.
Room
Jack, a 5-year-old boy, has always been locked in a 10m2 with his mother. Going out is impossible and not to make things better, the latter receives the visit of a man a little strange, from time to time. Finally we are not well at home? And you, what are the films about confinement that have marked you the most?
