A warm atmosphere. More intimate than at the Grand Rex during the incredible premiere of The Incredibles 2 last Sunday. On Tuesday, June 19, French actors Gérard Lanvin, Louane Emera and Amanda Lear reunited to talk about their experience as understudy.
While in the United States and Canada the film has made a record start ($ 180 million), the French are still waiting for the theatrical release of Incredibles 2 ! And if for the youngest, this second feature film will allow them to discover our favorite superhero family, for the others, it will be an opportunity to find their cult characters!
Who are The Incredibles 2?
14 years after the release of the first film The Incredibles, the iconic Edna Mode is back on your screens! His frank and piquant character has made him a key character. Something that surprised his interpreter of always, Amanda Lear.
"It's very curious because finally, this character (who is a secondary character) has become a bit cult! There are loads of people who have fallen in love with this rather unpleasant little good woman. I was even often told, 'You know, that's your best role! You absolutely have to do it again Edna.'"
However, the French singer, actress and television host admits not to have been immediately excited by the character… « I found it ugly! When I saw him for the first time, I didn't understand why I was chosen for this role… We always tend to believe that we have to physically resemble the character. Obviously, as this was not the case, I did not imagine for a second that I could get into the skin of this woman with a strong character and who does not support contradiction. But after that it went well."
Their relationship with the film
In addition to the amount of work involved in lending one's voice to an animated film, our three guests also shared their point of view on the multiple messages that the feature film The Incredibles 2 conveys.Especially the family aspect (which we talked about in a previous article).
Very attached to her loved ones, the young Louane sees in this film a side more humanist and family than feminist.According to her, although the image of the strong woman who saves the world was indeed emphasized, it is nevertheless thanks to the mutual aid in the Indestructible family that the film was able to end as it should. "I don't think it's feminist as a film…For me it's broader. It's humanistic. We are not about a power to women, but about a sharing of tasks, "she decides. "I think it shows people that there are different families and that today, in 2018, it's more the mom at home and the dad who works. In fact, there are plenty of different types and patterns of families."
And finally, another aspect of the film that has been mentioned: the message of self-acceptance. For Amanda Lear, Pixar studios were able to use a current phenomenon to make a parallel in the film: "Superheroes have been sidelined. Like abnormal people… We don't want to see them. And in this film, precisely, we try to put them back on the front of the stage, to get them out of hiding. That's kind of what's actually happening today with 'different' people in our society… And the film sees it very well." The latter also claimed that her indestructible side was her mental strength in the face of people who tried to "destroy" her.
To admire the result of the hard work of Louane, Amanda Lear, Gérard Lanvin and the many other doubles of the film The Incredibles 2, see you on July 4 at the cinema!
