The first images of Yorgos Lanthimos' next film have been revealed and it is once again something crazy that seems to await us.
After the fascinating The Lobster and the disturbing Killing of the Sacred Deer, Yorgos Lanthimos is back with The Favourite, a film completely barred in the court of England of the eighteenth century. Queen Anne, played by Olivia Colman, seeks to distract herself and her court during this time of war with France. At the heart of these distractions, a female love triangle will emerge between the queen, her confidante (Rachel Weisz) and her cousin (Emma Stone).
The trailer waltzes the baroque with madness, aristocracy with decadence. Everything seems very very hectic in Queen Anne's court and we find ourselves far from the anticipatory films to which Lanthimos had accustomed us.
The Favourite does not yet have a French release date but will be released in November 2018 in the United States.
