The more the little secrets of filming are revealed on The Dark Knight, the more we realize that we know almost nothing about this anthology film.

On the occasion of the release of Joseph McCabe's book in the United States, the Hollywood Reporter published an excerpt from 100 Things Batman Fans Should Know and Do Before They Die. The book gathers a lot of information about Batman and all his film adaptations. Among them, an interview with Christian Bale made by McCabe himself at the time of the release of Nolan's film. During the interview, we learn how the actor playing the famous Joker pushed Christian Bale to actually hit him during the interrogation scene.

As you see in the movie, Batman starts beating up the Joker and realizes that he is not an enemy like the others. Because the more I type him, the more he likes it. The more satisfaction I give him. Heath behaved very similarly," Bale said. "I was like, 'You know what, I don't really need to hit you. It will look just as good if I don't.' And he would say, "Go ahead. Go ahead. Go ahead… " He was slamming himself, and he had these tiled walls on the set that were cracked and cut because he was throwing himself at them. His commitment was total.

Following this, Bale explained that Ledger somehow blocked him because of his performance during the scene: "Heath came in and totally ruined my plans. Because I thought he was so much more interesting than me and what I was doing."

Once again, Heath Ledger shows us that he was not an actor like the others…
