Summer Lovin: A Grease prequel in preparation

If, like us, you know by heart the lyrics of all the songs and scenes of Grease, this is news that should make you very happy. A prequel to the famous 1978 musical is currently in preparation. It must be said that mythical films are rather popular with studios. Indeed, sequels, prequels, reboots and other remakes continue to invade our cinemas. After the announcement of a possible sequel to Dirty Dancing, it is now Grease 's turn to be entitled to its prequel. For now, the film is titled Summer Lovin. And there, you have in mind the cult song Summer Nights that Sandy Olsson and Danny Zuko sing at the beginning of the movie Grease. Indeed, you will probably have recognized, the title corresponds to the first phrase of the song. Summer Lovin will retrace the meeting and summer romance between Sandy and Danny. This will allow us to enlighten our lantern, since we know almost everything about this holiday love, beyond their kiss on the beach and their painful breakup. It is not yet known if the feature film will take place in the 50s, like the 1978 film, or if it will be a modernized version. What we can say is that the project is moving slowly but surely! Indeed, according to information from Deadline Hollywood, Paramount has already chosen the director. It would be Brett Haley to whom we owe the drama All our perfect days on Netflix. One question remains: who will have the difficult task of replacing Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta as Sandy and Danny?
