This is unexpected news and should make happy among the fanbase of the Star Wars saga. The Clone Wars series, canceled following the acquisition of Lucasfilm by Disney, will be reborn for a 7th season. If we already know that it will be broadcast on the VOD platform "Made in Disney", little information has been given about the events we will discover. Focus!
A real conclusion (finally):
This is undoubtedly the primary interest of this comeback that we no longer expected: finally conclude The Clone Wars as it should be. Bought by Disney in the middle during the broadcast of the show, the company Lucasfilm had to change its plans for season 6 and conclude hastily this series yet very appreciated.
So now is the time for the company with big ears to redeem itself for the frustration it has inflicted on fans of this program. This is probably the goal on Disney's part, which should draw very positive reactions from the public (public not always in agreement with the artistic choices of the Studio; the reception of Star Wars 8 – The Last Jedi proved it). In short, it is a beautiful announcement effect that should please fans of the franchise as well as Disney and Lucasfilm. Fans will be happy to finally be entitled to a real conclusion and producers will be happy to have a great selling point for their future streaming platform.
Ahsoka's return!
This is enough to reassure lovers of the duo Anakin / Ahsoka from the outset. The latter will be present in the TV show, as confirmed by the trailer. However, we must not delude ourselves. Little "Chippie" has left the Jedi Order for good and it's a safe bet that it is still full of resentment over the treatment she received. As a reminder, Ahsoka was Anakin's apprentice, until she was unjustly accused of murder and prosecuted by the Order. After proving her innocence, she will leave the Jedi, considering that she has been betrayed by them. The departure of his apprentice will leave a painful scar in Anakin's heart, who will never fully recover.
How will the reunion between the two former friends go? It's hard to say. But it is a safe bet that this will not be done in a tender way. Recall in passing that Ahsoka will also find herself facing her former master years after the fall of the Jedi Order, during the Star Wars – Rebels series. But he will have already swapped the name of Anakin Skywalker for that of Darth Vader. After a confrontation of great violence (and emotional power), Vader will leave Ahsoka for dead in a Sith temple on the planet Malachor… Or so we think! In short, Ahsoka's return is great news and there's reason to be excited to see how it goes. Note also the return of Rex, the iconic clone of the series (also present in Star Wars – Rebels).
A meeting with Thrawn?
If you're a fan of the Star Wars Expanded Universe, you can't help but know Grand Admiral Thrawn. A cult character who first appeared in the novel The Heir to the Empire, Thrawn is an outstanding strategist with excessive intelligence. Made "unofficial" when Disney removed the old Expanded Universe (to rename it "Legends"), this character still ended up being made "canon" by reappearing in Season 3 of Star Wars – Rebels. A return that did not fail to please fans of this emblematic character. But Disney and Lucasfilm did not stop there with Thrawn, since an entire novel was dedicated to him, devoted in particular to his origins and his rise in the imperial fleet.
But what does this have to do with The Clone Wars ? Well, quite simply the fact that a name is spoken by Thrawn in the novel dedicated to him. The name of a young man he met several years earlier during the Clone Wars. A certain Anakin Skywalker… Yes! Long before joining the Empire, Thrawn lived in the unknown regions. And he would have met the young Jedi in the middle of war. Only, these are events that we have never been able to attend. If this could seem intriguing in the novel, it is a safe bet that answers will be given in this seventh season of The Clone Wars. A clue is even left in the trailer, supporting this hypothesis. Indeed, we discover a very impressive image, presenting many ships of the Republic ready to go on expedition. Would it be an expedition to unknown regions? If so, the meeting between Thrawn and Anakin would be most likely, not to say inevitable… Case to follow very closely!
This 7th season of Star Wars – The Clone Wars already promises to be an event not to be missed. What surprises did the showrunners have in store for us? Time will tell. Anyway, the expectation is already felt and there is only hope that the series receives the end it deserves!
