The Spencer biopic dedicated to Lady Diana and worn by Kristen Stewart is revealed thanks to a first photo of the actress. The shooting of the film has just begun under the direction of Pablo Larrain (Jackie, Ema). Many actresses have had the honour of playing the role of the late Princess of Wales. Indeed, after Emma Corrin in The Crown, and while waiting for Elizabeth Debicki to seize the role in seasons 5 and 6, it is the turn of Kristen Stewart to embody Lady Diana. But this time, the actress lends her features on the big screen and for the needs of the biopic Spencer. We note that filming begins in Germany under the direction of Pablo Larrain, who then signs a new portrait of a woman after Jackie and Ema. And for the occasion, the producers unveiled a first photo of Kristen Stewart in the costume of the Princess of Wales who died on August 31, 1997. The result is then just… Bluffing! First image of Kristen Stewart in "Spencer" Written by Steven Knight, creator and writer of Peaky Blinders, the feature film will take place over a very short period of time: a weekend in December 1991. Three days during which the wife of Prince Charles, then on holiday with her family in the Sandringham estate, decides that it is time to end her marriage. As for the consequences of the assassination of John F. Kennedy in November 1963 in Jackie, Pablo Larrain will focus on a specific moment in the life of Lady Diana. For this, the director will be accompanied by Claire Mathon, French cinematographer whose work on Atlantic and – especially – Portrait of the girl on fire had been acclaimed and rewarded in the United States in 2019. Expected in cinemas in September 2022 – at the time of the 25th anniversary of Lady Diana's death – Spencer could earn Mathon other distinctions. Indeed, the film has, on paper, everything to animate festivals and award ceremonies, between its subject, its director, its cinematographer or its actress, who will be joined by Sean Harris (Mission Impossible – Rogue Nation), Timothy Spall (Harry Potter) and Sally Hawkins (The Shape of Water). Also noteworthy are the presence of composer Jonny Greenwood (There Will Be Blood) and costume designer Jacqueline Durran, twice Oscar-winner, for her work on Anna Karenina and The Daughters of Doctor March. However, the production did not specify who would play Prince Charles and their children William and Harry. This film will then be one of the first to be shot on English soil since the formalization of Brexit. But what is certain is that the opportunities to talk about it again will not be lacking!
