When General Mark Naird is promoted to Chief of Space Operations, he must leave Washington to settle in the depths of Colorado, much to his despair. In this base, he will have to work hand in hand with Dr. Adrian Mallory, a rather extravagant scientific director. Their mission is simple: to send a man back to the moon for the first time since the end of the Apollo program. A rather complicated task for the general who already has to manage his personal life, a woman in prison and a rebellious teenager, but also the bad reputation that the Space Force drags. Find our article on season 1 Composed of ten episodes, the first season follows this small band of space forces through many adventures. Space Force, an idea inspired by Donald Trump?

Yes, you saw right, the source of inspiration for the series comes from the former American president. In 2018, the latter announced that he wanted to create a sixth branch of the United States Armed Forces: the United States Space Force. With promotional videos similar to a science fiction movie, this new unit has been subject to jokes from Americans. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x619VW65l1Y So it's no wonder that we find his mockery in the Netflix series. One thinks in particular of the scenes of meetings with the heads of the other domains of the armed forces. Finally, the humor of this comedy relies heavily on social and political topics, like this one. But, what makes it known is above all its unparalleled distribution.

Quality casting and production

Created by Gregg Daniels, known for the famous series The Office and Parks and Recreation, this comedy has a dream cast. The leading role is not the least: Steve Carell, one of the greatest American comedians and also co-creators of the show. He notably plays opposite John Malkovich (Les liaisons dangereuses, Deepwater), Ben Schwartz, the crazy Jean-Ralphio in Parks and Recreation, or Lisa Kudrow, the famous Friends. But that's not all, the show also has many writers, directors and producers known in the television world. Thus, this line-up of actors and creators promised guaranteed success, but what is it really? Space force, a Netflix series

Space Force Reviews

Despite nearly 40 million views in three months, Space Force has not only received praise from the press. Although they all mostly appreciated the talent of the actors, many expected "better". It must be said that humor level, we are far from The Office, as many people expected. This is the case of the famous American magazine Variety which describes the series as "just correct". The Guardian, meanwhile, is harsher in its criticism. For the British newspaper, Space Force "is not funny" and "difficult to classify as a comedy". Yet, despite its harsh criticism, all agree that the duo Carrel/Malkovich is there to raise the level. The characters' relationship based on a mixture of hatred and respect works perfectly. Never in agreement with their decisions, their quarrels offer quite amusing scenes. We hope that season two will be more up to expectations. For now, there has been no announcement about a possible third party.
