Six years after Shrek 4: It Was an End, Dreamworks could start a new opus.

It was not really in the plans of Dreamworks, but the giant of animation, losing speed for a few years, was bought last April for $ 3.8 billion by Comcast, an American media company. The new boss intends to make his purchase profitable and plans to surf on all the lucrative sagas of Dreamworks, from Madagascar to Kung Fu Panda, and thus wake up the green ogre who seemed to have finished with a conclusion a priori clear Shrek 4: It was an end

Shrek: Unlimited potential

An animated film of this magnitude requires time and work, it is difficult to see how the film could be released before 2020. But Comcast knows the potential of Shrek, a lucrative and beloved saga that has already grossed $3 billion at the global box office. Steve Burke , the new boss, would like to increase the studio's output, forcing it to release four films a year, thus shaking up the habits of Dreamworks, which originally offered three films a year, then two because of cash flow problems.

Shrek

Chris Meledandri, CEO of Illumination Entertainment and producer of The Minions, will take the creative direction of future Dreamworks films. Steve Burke said:

"He's going to help us figure out how to resurrect Shrek."

In the meantime, the next film from Dreamworks Studios, The Trolls, will be released next October.
