Wednesday, May 10 opened the Festival of Busters, for its second edition, at the Luminor Town Hall, with the theme: "An air of Youth and obsession".
A year later, this one-day festival, solely dedicated to short films, has taken on a spurt.Indeed, this time there are many prestigious films, more or less old, with the presence, in master class of some of their directors, no less prestigious.
During this film week (May 10 to 16), the Festival wishes to make you discover or rediscover works and filmmakers obsessed with youth, obsessed with their obsession, obsessed with this close relationship between the years of naive passions and all the excesses and concerns that flow from them.
A festival in several cycles
A sub-theme: temptation
Eighteen films will be screened, eighteen "punch" films that recall the passion of youth, these first steps outside the home, these first emotions, these first fights … A youth that fascinates both those who are no longer young, and those who are still and who, as if in the middle of a panic attack, look at their own reflection, sometimes magnificent, sometimes disgusting, wondering what is happening to them.
Tribute to a cinema: German Cinema
With this cycle, the Festival des Busters wishes to reconnect with the German youth portrayed in five outstanding works of cinema from across the Rhine. Five screenings that will take place at the cinema Les 3 Luxembourg (see programme below):
- The Time of Dreams by Andreas Dressen
- Victoria by Sebastian Schipper
- The Drum by Volker Schlöndorff
- Der NachtMahr d'Azik
- A German Youth by Jean-Gabriel Périot
Starting Block: Two new filmmakers
Starting Block is an initiative of Léolo Victor-Pujebet and Mathieu Morel, who since 2016, present each month, at the cinema Les Fauvettes, the first work of a renowned filmmaker, followed by a masterclass by the latter.
As part of the Busters Festival, two new filmmakers will be presented, whose "identity will be revealed in the coming days".
The Cinétek and the Festival
This VoD site dedicated to the great films of the twentieth century will broadcast thirty films related to the theme "an air of youth and obsession" in order to benefit the Festival to the rest of the world. Inter alia:
- À nos amours by Maurice Pialat

- Kes by Ken Loach
- Tokyo kids by Yasujirô Ozu
A list proposed by the programmers of the Festivals as well as Gentlemen: Pascale Ferrand, Laurent Cantet and Cédric Klapisch.

The first three will be screened on Saturday, May 13:

- Requiem for My Father by Quentin Perez
The next three will be screened the next day, Sunday, May 14:

- Meduse by Hugo Pillard
- Missed Land by Lauren Oliel
The music of the festival: Santoré
"Behind Santoré are two brothers, Antoine and Mathieu, who draw their inspiration from the exploration of childhood memories. Their meeting with Mathilde Bédouet, a former student of Arts Déco, gave birth to the video for That Ball, which seduced the Festivals des Busters. Produced by Les Films du Prince, its colorful jungle accurately transcribes the abundant feeling of the piece and its mischievous notes, accentuated by the choice of acid colors and childish animals. A real initiatory adventure, which we follow with delight, from beginning to end."
"Seven days of festival, twenty-four feature films in theaters, twenty-two online, a competition of six short films, a dozen meetings and masterclasses: from May 10 to 16, 2017, the unmissable cinephile event!"
