The thief with the big heart is back in the cinema. A first trailer released on Thursday, May 3 reveals the hero played by Taron Egerton. This reboot promises its share of action and spectacular scenes.
Robin Hood comes again to seize the wealth of the powerful. The film directed by Otto Bathurst (Peaky Blinders, Black Mirror) tells the quest of Robin de Loxley, "a battle-hardened fighter returned from the Crusades". The hero played by Taron Egerton (Kingsman) is then confronted with the corruption of the English institutions led by the Sheriff of Nottingham, Ben Mendelsohn (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story). With the help of his friend, the Moorish chief Petit Jean (Jamie Foxx, Django Unchained), Robin will try to lead the people on the path of revolution. In his quest, the famous archer may well succumb to the beautiful eyes of Marianne, played by Eve Hewson (Blood Ties). The hero's double-game with the city's politicians could also get him into some trouble.
Robin Hood revisited
The first images of the trailer suggest a film punctuated by the arrows of Robin Hood. Fighting, explosions and an angry mob, Otto Bathurst's film will be carried out at full speed. The costumes, some sets or special effects present in the video do not guarantee a high accuracy of the facts. The trailer shows a somewhat modernized story, although the action takes place in the Middle Ages. A detail that most viewers will ignore. The film will be appreciated more for its beautiful energy and its Hollywood morals than for its documentary aspect. In these different aspects, Robin Hood resembles the film King Arthur: The Legend of Excalibur, directed by Guy Ritchie in 2017.
The film produced by Leonardo DiCaprio competes with a spin-off of Sony Pictures. Marian will tell the story of Marianne and the Merry Companions after the death of Robin Hood. The adventure film starring Taron Egerton is released on November 28, 2018 in theaters, it is distributed by Metropolitan.
