Chris Hemsworth returns to Netflix this Friday, April 24. Tyler Rake, directed by American Sam Hargrave, stars the famous interpreter of Thor in the role of a seasoned mercenary. Shootings and explosions guaranteed. Tyler Rake is an action movie (as one might have guessed) that tells how an intrepid mercenary will try to save the son of a rich and powerful drug trafficker. Small disclaimer: even if the children loved the brave Chris Hemsworth in the Thor saga , Tyler Rake is very far from being a movie to watch with your family.
Fights that look like video games
Explosions. Shootings. Fighting. Blood. No no, we are not in a new installment of the video game Uncharted. But indeed in an action movie that for once, does not let us get bored. For this feature film, director and actor Sam Hargrave did not skimp on violence. From the first scene of the film the hero is bleeding, a gun in his hand, seriously wounded. After this very quick appetizer, we understand that the film will constitute a loop and that this first scene is actually one of the last. The loop, a very ingenious process that makes us wonder why and how our hero ended up in this state. 
Not lacking in fights and explosions, Sam Hargrave's feature film also has no shortage of clichés. A solitary hero, a palette of colors in sandy tones, flashbacks of a loved one lost when the hero is down, a mercenary who never misses his target and who puts others before his own interest… We're used to it. Despite this collection of action movie clichés, Tyler Rake is still a good movie.
A kinder mercenary than he looks
Obviously, our hero was not going to be a hateful character. A mercenary with a big heart, Tyler risks his life countless times throughout the film. And one more shot! Despite the great violence of a good number of scenes, Tyler Rake is not a film devoid of emotion. Hope makes life and hope sells. Unfortunately, the personal and intimate side of the characters is not highlighted enough. A subject that could have been deepened to "break" this violence of the fighting. Even if you don't watch an action movie for the sentimental story in the background, it sometimes makes the movie a little lighter to follow. Because yes, with all these shootings and explosions, there are some scenes where we do not know where to turn. 
We would have suspected, Chris Hemsworth perfectly interprets the role of Tyler. Fight scenes that would make us wince with pain, perfect acting… Sam Hargrave knows how to do it. Speaking of pain, we can note the relief on Mr. Hemsworth's face in the behind the scene. Indeed, doing stunts is quite a job. Even if he doesn't win the title of best Netflix movie of the year, Tyler Rake fulfills all the conditions and clichés of the good action movie. If you miss big-screen fighting movies, Netflix has the solution. Tyler Rake (on the smaller screen), it's the release of the week!
