A slim scenario

With Seize Spring, Suzanne Lindon unveils a fifty-page screenplay, which she wrote at the age of fifteen. The young director does not hide it, she says her script is short but it is a choice. From the first moments of the film, one immediately realizes the absence of long dialogue and therefore long silence. Thus, at the beginning of the film the story takes time to start. But hey, it doesn't matter we enjoy the beautiful images and the prestigious casting with Suzanne Lindon headlining. You will have understood it in Seize Spring, Suzanne Lindon in all hats: actress, screenwriter and director. With this film, Suzanne affirms her potential as an actress and director but has yet to prove her writing. But since this is his first film, we can only look forward to his next project.

A delicate staging

Despite the presence of a thin script, Suzanne Lindon's delicate staging helps the viewer immerse himself in the subtlety of this first love. The camera is not immersive on the contrary it naturally follows Suzanne's everyday life. The delicate staging is also shown with the two moments of dance between the two main actors. Two moments, both intriguing and touching, paying tribute to the dancer Pina Bausch. Sometimes in a few scenes, you might think it's a documentary because the staging is so subtle. On the other hand, the problem with Sixteen Spring is certainly its script and thus its short dialogues. Review "Seize Spring" by Suzanne Lindon: a touching and delicate first film Being a fan of good dialogue, Suzanne Lindon's film has many moments where nothing happens. When watching this film, the director chose instead to focus on the staging and leave aside the script. So if you watch films only for beautiful sentences or a dialogue à la Michel Audiard, we do not recommend it. On the other hand, if you like beautiful staging, go for it. In addition, the young Suzanne Lindon was lucky to have in her cast prestigious actors like Arnaud Valois.

References to everything

You can't help but see references everywhere, in every scene! When Suzanne, the main character, invites us to her room, we see a poster of an old movie written Suzanne on it. References to the films Diabolo Minthe by Diane Kurys, À nos amours by Maurice Pialat, La Boum by Claude Pinoteau or the acting of James Thierrée and Charlie Chaplin also interfere in this film without really being claimed by the director. Except maybe the diabolo grenadine, which Suzanne drinks throughout the film.
