My soulmate is the story of two children, Abbie and Sam, who fall in love.As adults, they continue to build their lives together. When Abbie is diagnosed with terminal cancer, their future is in jeopardy. She then seeks to control Sam's future life when she is gone.

An intimate realization

My Soul Mate is a new Netflix production at the beginning of the year. The film released in February 2018 is dramatic and at the same time hopeful. Emotions are at the rendezvous, the spectator is at the same time immersed in tenderness, candor, joy, but also sadness. The script is very well sewn. Abbie is, in addition to being the main character, the narrator of the story. She then takes the viewer with her, through the different stages that lead her to acceptance for total immersion. Despite the fact of the certain death of the main character, a certain bliss is felt. The directors even managed to incorporate scenes that make you smile when Abbie is in the company of her sidekick of people with cancer.

An intimate atmosphere emerges from the shooting. The directors sought to integrate the listener into the heart of the action. The photography is simple, and that's what sublimates the beauty of the film. There is no frills, there is only the essential.

A cast chosen with finesse

The casting presented by Netflix is rather judicious. The role of Sam is played by Michiel Huisman. He managed to put himself in the background compared to Abbie's character. Indeed, the idea is judicious since his soulmate tries to decide his future life.

Christopher Walken, plays the sarcastic character wonderfully. Myron manages to divert his cancer in a derisory way in order to try to see the glass half full. Plus, it's always good to see Walker even though it's a supporting role.

Gugu Mbatha-Raw, who we have already met in The Cloverfield Paradox on Netflix, interprets with accuracy the role of the narrator. She manages to share her emotions with the viewer who has the impression of living through the character of Abbie. She even integrates it from the beginning of the film by suggesting that we will all end up in the same place as her.

My soul mate, is a film full of emotions. It makes you smile, hope, cry. Netflix offers with this new production a beautiful story to discover. The internal narrator gives a point of view rarely exploited in films dealing with the disease.
