Originally scheduled for August 9, 2019, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood will finally land in theaters on July 26, 2019. Why? For Quentin Tarantino, it is a question of avoiding the anniversary of the murders committed by Charles Manson fifty years earlier.
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is the next Tarantino (Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill, The Hateful Eight) long awaited by fans. Three years after The Hateful Eight, the director is desired and creates impatience by unveiling a breathtaking cast. On the program: Brad Pitt (Troy, Fight Club, Inglorious Basterds), Leonardo Dicaprio (Titanic, Inception, Django Unchained) or the appearance of the filmmaker's favorite actors, such as Tim Roth, Michael Madsen and Kurt Russell.
For his ninth feature film, Tarantino decides to set himself in the late 60s, in Los Angeles and to address the crimes committed by Charles Manson and his "Family". The main plot of the film will revolve around the murder of Sharon Tate, actress and wife of Roman Polansky, then pregnant at the time of his murder.
It is for this reason that the release date of the film is advanced. The film was originally scheduled to be released on August 9, 2019. But this is the date fifty years ago when Sharon Tate and her child lost their lives. Both the director and the production did not want the film to be seen as a commemoration of Manson's murders. In order to avoid this morbid "anniversary", the production decided to bring forward the release by two weeks. The appointment is now set for July 26, 2019.
Good news for the impatient who will be able to discover this new Tarantino two weeks early.
