Pixar Animation Studios recently announced the release date of a new animated film titled Luca, directed by Enrico Casarosa and produced by Andrea Warren. Its release is scheduled for June 23, 2021 in French cinemas.
Synopsis of Luca
It is the story of a young boy named Luca, spending the summer on the Ligurian Riviera , who appears in the Liguria region of Italy, accompanied by his best friend. We can follow the two characters in "a summer adventure that will fundamentally change Luca". Their relationship will be damaged when Luca discovers the true nature of his sidekick: he is a sea monster who comes from another world.The change of environment between the marine world and the terrestrial world will be a main issue of the film.

A first feature film for Casarosa as a director
Casarosa is known for his short film La Luna, nominated for an Academy Award for Best Animated Short.He also worked on the film Arlo's Journey (directed by Peter Sohn) as a story director. He also collaborated on the films Ratatouille or Là-haut as a storyboard artist. Luca is the very first feature film of which he will have the reins.
