Actress Virginie Efira will play opposite Omar Sy in the next feature film directed by Anne Fontaine, Police.

"An invitation to take a different look at the police"

According to information from RTL, Police would be the new project of the director Anne Fontaine. It would be an adaptation of a novel written by Hugo Boris, published in 2016 and published by the house Grasset.

The story features three police officers, Virginie, Erik and Aristide, who team up on an unusual mission: to drive a stranger back to the border. But Virginie, in the midst of a personal storm, understands that this return home is synonymous with death. Alongside their paralyzed passenger, all certainties explode. Until the final confrontation, on the slopes of Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle, where these four lives are about to change. In a few hours of a closed door tense to the extreme unfolds the suspense of the greatest tragedies. How to be yourself, every day, every moment, in the world as it is?

Like the book, the director hopes to make this film "an invitation to take a different look at the police". She chooses to shed light on these peacekeepers, in uniform, whom she considers "little explored in literature, unlike the judicial police".

To do this, Anne Fontaine called on Virginie Efira, as well as Omar Sy to play the leading roles of her future adaptation.

Before knowing more about what will be Anne Fontaine's seventeenth film, Virginie Efira will soon be starring in Le Grand Bain, directed by Gilles Lellouche, Un amour impossible by Catherine Corsini, and the feature film La première séance by Justine Triet. As for Omar Sy, he should return to reappear on giant screens this fall in the skin of another policeman in Rachid Bouchareb's Flic de Belleville.
