No reopening of cinemas before mid-April according to Olivier Véran

We will still have to be patient to hope for a possible reopening of cinemas. This Thursday, March 4, during the press briefing of Jean Castex, the Minister of Health, Olivier Véran, gave some indications on a future loosening of constraints. We are all wondering what the deadline is for a possible reopening of the rooms. While the cultural community is increasingly vocal on this subject, showing both its impatience and its anger (notably via the tribune signed by 800 personalities at the initiative of the SRF), the Minister of Health, Olivier Véran, shared clues about a possible date. During the now ritual update of Thursday evening, the minister gave elements restored by Le Film Français. The Minister of Health then stated:  "We know that during the spring period, the climatic conditions are clearly less favorable to the circulation of the virus. (…) Add to that the effect of vaccination, and it is legitimate to think that by mid-April, or perhaps at the end of April or perhaps at the beginning of May – we cannot date it precisely, we do not have a crystal ball – it will be possible to relax a number of constraints if the epidemic situation allows it. This means that, in the coming weeks and until April 15, we cannot hope to reduce the level of constraints that weigh on the French today, alas. There is no scheduled or anticipated reopening in this period."  Thus, according to these statements, the reopening of cinemas can only be done, at best, from mid-April. It should be noted that this deadline of April 15 also corresponds to a target set in terms of vaccinations. Indeed, during this same situation update, Prime Minister Jean Castex announced:  "By this date, we should have exceeded the threshold of 10 million doses. Normally, we can expect a strong impact on hospital pressure, and indeed as a result of which we can, if all this is confirmed, subject to the evolution of epidemic data, consider at that time to relax a certain number of constraints. That, in any case, is our clear objective." So all we have to do is be patient (again!) and hope to find the beautiful comfortable seats and large screens of our dark rooms by mid-April.
